Halo: Reach Beta Thread

I'm actually still working right now so that I can free up some time tomorrow to get some gametime in the morning. :D

I'm so pumped right now too that I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight!
 
Just played some plain ol' halo3 MP for the first time in almost a year and damn is it fun :lol Went 15/11 w/ 8 assists and 12/12 w/ 9 assists on Team BRs. I truly envy you folks w/ FnF. I can't wait until Monday :D

I'm kinda doing the same thing by trying to write this paper now instead of tomorrow so that I have every minute available to play. It's not going so well though. My mind wanders too easily. I need to try to forget about Reach for an hour or so. :lol
 
I'm going to attempt to sleep. Good luck to me though. I'm gonna fuckin wake up every hour and check for my code :lol

I got my email at 6:05PM GMT last time, so around 10AM PDT maybe? Assuming I get one again of course.
 
Bleh, my now glass cut foot is not helping the wait.
Final PHP Demo/Interview today, so afterwards I'm free to use all the F&F codes I'm going to win in all the comps I've entered :D .

But ah well, as long as Tashi (gets one and) is streaming, then good times will be had.
Nice to wake up to all of Stosh's content.
 
If someone is streaming the Halo Reach beta tomorrow, feel free to post the link. As long as I can see live footage of the beat, I'm a very happy boy.
 
Amazon just sent me an email saying "Hey, we noticed you like Halo, maybe you'd like to preorder..." and I deleted it.

Zeouterlimits, is there, to the best of your knowledge, any retailer that ships to Ireland and reliably delivers games on release morning? Because I've never found one.

No. Amazon have a small Dublin shipping-base now too, but are un-even (day-early, day-late etc).
This is why I didn't preorder the Leg from Amazon, I'm not sure what to do.

With Halo 3 I ended up with two copies, one standard ed that I bought in store the morning of, the other a Legendary Edition that arrived at 6pm that evening.

You have to hold down the melee button instead of just tapping it. Just tapping it will still kill them, but you won't get the sweet, humiliating animation.

I wouldn't mind a day early! All my UK XBL friends preorder everything and always get new releases at least a day early. I feel like I am living in some sort of postal ghetto.

I'll probably just reserve a limited edition of Reach in GAME and pick it up when the shop opens. That's what I did with Halo 2.

Oh man, when they run and gun and melee at the start and only manage to pop the shields... the new system is joyous.
 
For that video I linked to, why'd the announcer say "Tied the leader" when the person had 24 kills while the 2nd place person only had 23? I think this may be a bug!

Apparently the codes are out mid-morning PST, so about 6pm our time.

That said, some people seem so certain of getting codes that I'm not sure they haven't already got an email or something confirming it.

bug in the bungie pro renderer or something - the sound is desynched and pitches (of at least the announcer) are lower

I think I might go back to buying games from an actual shop on release day, actually, despite the fact that Amazon managed to get my copy of ODST to me by about noon. It's just so much easier to go to a shop and know at what time you'll hold it in your hands, than to sit at home staring at the letterbox...
 
Watching beta gameplay, by far my favourite tweak to the sandbox is that melee doesn't kill unless shields are down. I see people trying the Halo 3 AR spray + beatdown approach, and it doesn't work any more.

As a UK player, there's nothing more frustrating than putting 4 BR shots into a dude who responds by spraying three AR bullets and lunging 10 feet to kill you. Now that can't happen, DMR/pistol vs AR becomes much more interesting. I'm hopeful.
 
I hope the next generation has same-day releases for digital download games. With preloading. And activation times localized to your time zone.

Has how the motion tracker works now been talked about? I just noticed it in one of the videos up on B.net. Really liking that, though the person playing seemed confused. :lol
