Halo: Reach Beta Thread

Team mate killed my cousin just because he was on a ghost, is there a TK penalty at all in this game?

Invasion Slayer right now is the best mode, regular invasion has too many issues.

Let's calm this down a little. It's a beta remember. Everything that people seem to have said is an issue can be fixed; spawns, loadouts, bugs, etc..

Question, do you get points towards winning for taking points in Invasion Slayer? Or is it just to get drops?

Oh, oh and I laugh at people playing Invasion like slayer, I was an Elite, stole the core, and ran it all the way back only dying once.

Oh Halo Vehicles, how I missed you.

I'm totally digging Invasion so far. Even though I still suck at the DMR, its maps like boneyard that make it feel just right for it to be used.

Loving invasion.

Played about 4 hours with 11 friends, and being able to cooperate e coordinate on the field gave the game the right boost.

I don't think most of the complaints I've read are fair.

The starting point in Invasion for elites seems uneven, but it isn't; there are two needle rifles, plenty of cover, everyone has evade, and there are multiple accesses to the spartan area.

Two elites should wait and cover the squad from behind with the two nerfles (oh god this name's ugly).

The map design is good for vehicles and infantry altogether, since it provides enough space for manouvering without leaving the infantry completely vulnerable in the open field.

Only problem I could see comes from the initial loadout for elites in invasion slayer. Other than that, it's been a blast: blocking the elites right onto that final ladder is awesome.

Boneyard really isn't that fun of a map.
The big open layout in the middle is pretty fun to play on, but the two end pieces suck.

Lastly, and all new for Reach, we have a new type of ban called a Quitter Ban. This is a relatively soft ban, so we will be using it quite aggressively, activating after only a handful of quits and lasting a rather long time. What does it do? A player with a Quitter Ban will be temporarily unable to re-enter Matchmaking for 15-30 minutes following any further quits.

Sweet mother of GOD yes!

Excellent WWU, a lot of my 'problems' with Reach have been either already fixed, or plan to be fixed.

Nice.

I also feel sorry for all the habitual quitters, little did they know that they were screwing themselves over. :lol

What a great way to start the game :D

I like the look of the new medals, but the text size was still better in Halo 3 IMO. Weird that you can't see your grenades anymore while in zoom now, wonder why that decision was taken :lol

This this this this this. Fucking amazing.

I wonder what the threshold for it is. I hope it's as aggressive as they make it sound. Mmm.

Also armor cross breed swapping = o.O

Can... can Spartans roll?

Another 5-6 rounds of Invasion with a full party of 12, and I think it is the most broken, lame version of BTB in recent memory.
I don't like the big bland map
I don't like playing as an elite in tier 1
I don't like driving any of the vehicles anymore
I don't like the warthog turret.
I don't like the slow to spawn system.
I don't like playing a poor man's territories.
I don't like that resources are going to be wasted making maps to fit this busted-ass gamemode.

I do like the skybox, my favorite yet.
Maybe it'll be amazing come launch, bungie's good at those things, but I'm officially turned off.

Good thing about the bans. Better that they're waiting to make sure it isn't connection issues as many have had their fair share of those.

cry moar. =P

I think Invasion is just alright, have only played a couple matches of it but will play a lot of it tonight. :D

Great update, good to hear about the nades and melee, wished we'd heard about the Pistol/DMR/NR as well. Oh well.

And thumbs up for the Lazy Sunday reference =)

What? No way do I feel sorry for those jerkholes. Let 'em burn!

That'll do Bungie. That'll do. :D

We’re hearing a lot of lip service about how the current iteration will kill a fully shielded Spartan in one toss and about the sheer amount of bang for your buck distributed throughout each map. While the former isn’t accurate (you can absorb a direct hit if you have full shields and health), we are seeing a healthy share of grenade kills in the Beta.

:lol

I made that claim a few times and I stand by it, maybe something got buggy and I shouldnt have died, but I did. I am so glad its not by design though, I lost a lot of faith in Bungie when that happened to me. :lol

Anyone else used the Banshee flip yet? The camera goes really weird, it seems intentional though?

I love Invasion Slayer :D sucks when teammates quit out, but i really like it. Invasion is slightly less cool after the novelty wears off, but i really like it! I think it's awesome. Getting a clutch cap with 5 seconds is awesome :lol

After my initial displeasure, I am loving Invasion. Despite the big initial advantage the Spartans have, only once have I been in a game where it didn't go the full time. And that was the 1 time it put all of us GAFfers on the same team. Most of the games have ended with the core out in the open. And then there was the one time this happened:

rlkwhg.jpg

We Spartans won the game, holding them off from touching it, while it was in the zone, for the last minute of the game. :D

I played 5-6 games of Invasion and our party got split up every single time :(

also, elites won 1 of those games. It feels like they can get destroyed really easily if the spartans know what they're doing.

Upon spending the last four hours playing Invasion, the mode does have some flaws that NEED to be addressed.

That said, even in this unfinished state, Invasion >>>>>> Arena (ESPECIALLY Slayer Pro).

Great news on the fixes. Most interested in how grenades will be adjusted and melee will be tuned.

Also, I'm wondering if we'll get a true BTB playlist in the final Reach build. Aside from the Covenant vs. Spartan Invasion, if we'll get 6v6, or 7v7/8v8 style Spartan vs. Spartan classic Big Team; including the BTB style maps, which range from one sided like Terminal, and symmetrical like Coagulation, Valhalla, Waterworks, etc. Please hope so. :(

Playing Invasion with a team of three is impossible to get everyone on the same SIDE. -_-

This is a big problem I forgot to mention.

We were a team of six, and in just one occasion we ended up on the same side.

Is there something we could do?

After having tried a few times, we just decided to form a big group of 12.

Disappointing.
