We can't compare Halo Reach to most of the FPS, don't forget Halo is the one of the few that offer playable vehicles. Perhaps....battlefield 2?
 
While I'm just as hesistant to say anything about what are surely non-gameplay pics as I was blurry ass digital photos, those screens register far more on the awesome side of things.

Ugly ass Halo brand Grass, Rock, & Slab aside, I'm almost impressed.

I really like the skirmishers, my only complaint is that they look to robotic, wish they looked a little more organic. This was also my biggest complaint with the Brutes.

Yeah i been planning on it for a while. I kinda wanna get a DLP... just waiting on my financial aid check lol

I been wanting to buy a PS3 but its kinda pointless without an HD tv and an HDMI cable since the only thing the PS3 is good for is Blueray and 2 games lol jk i aint hatin on any console :)

But how i've seen Halo 3 in HD, im in no hurry to get an HD lol, maybe it will be worth it for Reach.

I just realized the dead Jackal in this picture. For some reason I assumed Skirmishers would replace Jackals altogether. Glad they didn't.

Also, are the things on the roof Skirmishers? They almost look like they have dog heads, from the front. :lol

Uh oh, anyone else notice something about the dead Grunt and Jackal?... they look insanely stiff and they look like there are no nex gen physics in place. This worries me, i hope they implement some sweet ragdol physics, Halo 3's dead body physics were a bit disapointing

I also thought jackals were replaced.
 
the game looks fantastic. there's a crispness to the environment textures that i am not use to seeing from bungie. additionally, the game looks like it is going to be grittier than any of the previous halo games. my only concern is image quality. obviously, the iq is not going to be as clean as it is in these shots, but i can't imagine bungie would ship anything without seriously improved anti-aliasing after the halo 3 debacle...

Everytime you die especially out of explosion...the death animation is pretty much the same. At least after the update, it's slightly better now but not as good...

The death animation suit freezing was kinda bland for something the game forced you to watch so often never.

Meh fuck the graphics. I just want it to not be jagged. Hopefully EDGE is more concrete than GameInformer about the gameplay details that Bungie revealed.


PS: Whoever took this batch of pictures, wasn't doing Bungie any favors though, they really aren't good promo shots. However it is cool to set our expectations low.

I am a junior member finally and can i say that i am finally glad i can give my piece on halo fan fiction. I just got the game informer this last weekend when i actually signed up for GI subscription and let me say i am greatly impressed where this new halo reach is going. It seems that bungie is putting a lot more ominous details to halo this time around, more like a combination of halo 3 and halo 3 odst.

well i think that there is more to it that bungie is still working on i mean the demo isnt even out, granted it looks pretty finite but i believe there is more and that we will greatly be impressed by the outcome. fingers crossed

Halo 3's body physics were not improoved much upon from Halo 2 and the flying body animations arent much different from Halo CE. Compare GTA IV's physics to Halo 3 and you'll know what im talking about.

To me, the AI in Half-Life 1 seems more impressive than the Halo 3 AI, but it's probably just a simple calculator to what Bungie is doing. It's all in the way you experience something, and I don't care what developers do to achieve that.

I want next gen Halo to look like the cut-scenes in Halo Wars.
Something similar could probably be pulled off today.
But not by Bungie.

Well, GTA IV uses Euphoria. Euphoria is more advanced that anything Halo uses. More advanced than what most games are using right now.

So I wonder if the skirmishers will act more animal like compared to the other covenant. Grah. I still cant shake the image of their plumage being some crazy hairstyle.

I just don't understand why it looks like it does. You berzerkers keep saying 'the features, the lighting, the ai!' but please, give me a technical explanation of what makes everything in this game so complex that they can't have graphics at least resembling other major action games, and I'll shut the fuck up. Seriously.

Yup, NaturalMotion (Euphoria) has the best phyisiscs ive seen in games. ImageMetrics has the best facial animations.. Bungie jumped on board with Image Metrics, they should also jump on board with NaturalMotion
 
That's flatly ridiculous. Without thinking an iota of processor or licensing costs, no fps game needs something as extensive as Euphoria.

MW2 looks like fucking ass, I have no idea what you are talking about. ODST was perfectly fine outside of the shitty ass repeated cars and boring city modeling.

It's amazing that GTA4 even manages to run at all with the real time lighting and euphoria running at the same time. Especially on 360/PS3.

I wish more Developers would use Euphoria, it really makes the game feel so much better. I could imagine how awesome a Euphoria physics driven halo game would be too. Run full sprint across the map when all of a sudden a sniper shoots right through your right leg, your spartan stumbles and falls and then rolls but quickly gets up. I can only imagine how splatters would look with Euphoria.

Yeah i was thinkin about that too, but licensing cost shouldnt be too bad for Microsoft Bungie. They put in on Gears of War and Gears isnt as lucrative as halo. Pro Evolution soccer 2010, almost all of Rockstar Rage engine games.

Or maybe the PhysX engine, I thought gears of war had really good physics except for the super light weighted dead bodies. A little more weight to the bodies and it would be awesome. Riddick Attack on Dark Athena had insanely good dead body rag doll physics, the weight was just right and they piled on top of eatchother nicely ( i only played the demo ). Halo 3's dead bodies dont pile or react with one another....

The only reason i could see Halo 3 physics all over again is because of the memory budget and stuff like that. I know Halo is always running awesome stuff under the hood that most console games dont. As long as the game is awesome. I just hope they dont have the same flying body animations they've been using since Halo CE

Imagine messing around with the grunts with euphoria physics... Pushing them around without killing them on a wart hog and watching them stumble and roll on the hood of the vehicle. I love screwing around with the civilians in GTAIV, or beating someone down while they stuble over objects and crash into walls.
