Halo The Series (2022) | Official Trailer | Paramount+

This looks like every trailer for every show or movie these days. Always these quick cuts (signaled by HEAVY DRUMS), interspersed with a few seconds of black screen with seemingly profound voiceovers, usually accompanied by a few piano notes. And don't forget the remake of a famous old song playing toward the end.

Anyway, Cortana looks stupid. Should've used a CGI model based on her Halo 4 look, instead of… whatever this is.

Most of the complaints outside a few disagreeing with the choice of how things look or sound, are completely stupid takes imo.

Playing Halo Infinite is a charming reminder of the days when video game developers didn't give a shit about voice acting.

"Yo I heard this easy listening DJ in Chicago once who would be perfect as your franchise character."
"Great, what are his credentials?"
"Uh.....he's got a deep voice."
"Good enough."

This might be the best thing I've ever seen.

Anyway I should use that $100 streaming credit I got with my TV finally, since Paramount+ is the only service it counts towards which I've heard of

I thought it looked nice and it got me excited enough I'm sure to watch it. I don't expect it to be amazing but I do expect it to be in the middle of the "We're Doing Prestige TV Budget But Our Talent Is Only Decent" thing that we see so often now.

It's also gotten me wanting to replay the games themselves. I'm more keen on doing that right now than I am about the series, tbh.

Edit: I am curious about how far they'll dig into the "Actually, the human society in Halo is pretty fascist even before the Covenant make them desperate" thing. My guess is not very far.

A few quick thoughts of mine:

1. Why did they make Cortana look human? Like wtf man, she is a digital AI. Not a fan.

2. Not sure how I feel about them changing the story about how they found the Halo rings. Does the Fall of Reach even happen?

3. Elites look cool, so I approve of that.

4. Spartan armor looks fine, but the actors do not look like soldiers.

I'll give it a chance, looks alright. The one thing I feel is missing is the feeling of a north-west pacific forest that is so ingrained with halo for me from the second level of halo 1.

Hes not going to be faceless. I can damn near promise he'll be Book of Boba Fettin'. Otherwise, why not get the original voice actor?
I know since they have the weird obsession of having to show the actors face if they're suited up, lol. I'm just enjoying it while it lasts...
Staten thankfully ruled out ever showing his face in the games prior to Infinite's launch at least. Only in the comics.

I haven't played Halo but this looked interesting. I will definitely check this out. One thing I don't like is how the cgi enemies look. Something about them makes them look very cartoony.

Looks better than I expected, but still very much a CW show. Will give it a watch, but with tempered expectations because trailers are just that.

Who is the blonde lady with the weird outfit who mentions "humans"? That's not supposed to be a Forerunner, is it?

I know the TV series is not canon to the games but....

Is there another source on this.
Look at their front page I'm literally unable to tell if it's some sort of parody site or not.
Likely not. Here's a quote from their about page:
Our sources, although anonymous, are reliable industry insiders. However, POPTOPIC is dedicated to informing its readers when it has made a mistake (however big or small), conveying the error's severity, and providing the correct information as soon as the mistake is brought to attention.

They made the prophets women wearing weird clothes?
WaIt those human-looking women are the Shan'Shyuum? lol.

I was thinking they might be Forerunners in a flashback and they made them more human for the show but they turned the worm-camel mofos to look like high tech Karens. lmao.

So I rewatched it a couple of times cause folks were praising it like crazy and I was trying to understand why. After a couple of viewings the show doesn't look that bad. It looks to me like a larger budget sci-fi channel movie which I'm okay with. I think my expectations were just a lot higher since it is halo but this a tv show so the budget would get stretched over 12 episodes or more.

On the contrary I find that shows and movies that chase big budget stars can sometimes be terribly written - e.g Angelina Jolie in the Eternals. Whereas some shows with nobody's in them can end up being bangers (GoT had a relatively low budget cast at the start aside from Sean Bean).
Whilst I agree with your premise; Charles Dance, Lena Headey, Aidan Gillen, Liam Cunningham, Natalie Dormer, etc were far from "nobodies."

"I think we set out to tell a character story and a personal story," Wolfkill told IGN.

Please not drama at the micro personal level, what happened to space opera and the macro grandiose aspects of Halo? I hope we have all out action and not filler like Nightfall or Forward Unto Dawn. I enjoyed the latter but both we very light on the action, which is what a large chunk of the games is all about. I hope the new TV series has less dialogue and more show us the action. Chief was always defined by his actions, not his words.

I hope this series comes out and it's a banger. Then all you hatin ass salty MF's can slurp on some crow ankles!
