Handcuffed while delivering mail. NYPD cuffs on-duty USPS worker for yelling at them.

Postal worker failed "the attitude test"

That would be the attitude by some people in Australia to this story. If police here are in a bad mood, everyone they encounter has to continuously show a "good attitude" otherwise the cops can ruin their day. Or worse.

cops are fucked up when they leave unattended vehicles unlocked after arresting someone

this smells like a Federal Crime, leaving a USPS truck unlocked unattended

throw those cops in jail

And of course the man had to be black. Police are really shameful sometimes.

Shouting at them probably didn't help, but come on. Didn't deserve to get arrested.

That's a fuck up. Besides being a federal employee they left the truck unattended.......

There's nothing wrong with yelling at someone who almost hit you. I hope this blows up.

Icing on the cake would be if the postman's route included the house of one of the top brass of the NYPD.

Yeah, no. I highly doubt an NYPD cop is going to be living anywhere near East New York. It's a notoriously bad neighborhood. A bulk of crimes happen there

And wow, cops in NYC don't care if you got a job. They're in an unmarked car, and got yelled at for driving like pricks.. Then, being the gangsters they are, they hit reverse and get out of the car, cuff the dude and take him who knows where.

I would fucking LOVE to sneak a camera into police academy training here. I'd love to see how these morons are being trained

do it, you could release a documentary about it after

Just about every part of this story is unbelievable. The only silver lining is that they didn't give him the Garner treatment.

Once again, imagine if there had been no video tape.
And then imagine how many incidents pre mid 2000s there must have been.
Who would take this man at his word that he was simply delivering mail?

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
You don't have to show cops here ID unless you're stopped while driving. And you can legally cuss at them all you want.
Stay losing, New York.

Thugs. The true definition of, not what they call black people because it'd be uncouth to call them what they really want to outside of a Drumpf rally.

I can imagine the mentality of these plainclothes cops, revealing themselves as the secret badasses:

"You made a big mistake, pal. You will submit to my authoritah."

As someone working in customer service, I imagine that must feel incredible, and give an huge rush of endorphins/adrenaline.

But a police officer is a community worker, and allowing themselves to use their power to ruin someone's day/life, is abhorrent. Can't believe all the shit they try to get away with, while playing the role of the victims of a war on cops.

I hope these guys get the book thrown at them, seeing they arrested a federal employee on duty.

Lmao, what charge did he end up getting? Your police are pathetic, US.

4 paid vacations coming right up!

This is unavoidable, and you shouldn't focus on this. You should focus on your police not getting prosecuted for things they get paid leave for.

Cops egos are so fucking fragile. Talk about power corruption.

Yup. The power trip many of them seem to thrive on leads to stupid shit like this. I'm not convinced the same group of cops wouldn't have done the same thing if he was white. Though the NYPD has enough history of culturally ingrained prejudice that I'm not gonna give these guys the benefit of the doubt.

It never ceases to amaze me how so many self styled tough guys go off the deep end over minor verbal confrontations like this one. What a bunch of egomaniacal adult sized babies.

If that mail guy didn't think twice about shouting at a carful of brave police officers, I bet he wouldn't think twice about delivering a package to a terrorist either.

I'm surprised and a little worried he wasn't shot on sight.

Obviously he had a bomb or some weapon in the brown box he was holding.
If I learned anything from the movie Seven, it's that nothing good can come from a mysterious brown box.

Full video of Wednesday's press conference, including a video of the arrest:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_xndprCpm8
Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams urged the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to take swift disciplinary action against the police officers responsible for a questionable arrest of an on-duty postal worker that occurred last week in Crown Heights, which was captured on a newly uncovered cell phone video that will be shared with the media.
Borough President Adams was be joined by that postal worker's family as well as members of his union, National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 41.

Wait, so I'm guessing this was a citation summons? It's the only type I can imagine that would fit a potential infringement he caused... Which he didn't.
Sound like it.

“They issued him a summons in hopes of sweeping this under the rug,” said Adams, who wants Internal Affairs to investigate the four cops and the lieutenant.
Tells you this was a power trip to show "who's boss". Fucking assholes.

I just wanted to point this out....

dis·gorge (dĭs-gôrj′)
v. dis·gorged, dis·gorg·ing, dis·gorg·es

v.tr.

1. To bring up and expel from the throat or stomach; vomit.
2. To discharge violently; spew.
3. To surrender (stolen goods or money, for example) unwillingly.

v.intr.

To discharge or pour forth contents.

You could say they oozed onto the scene...

NYPD stay winning.

Why does the NYPD employ so many manchildren?

While I'm sure some of it is the people they hire, I have to think a lot of it is simply due to the culture of the organization. If you can bully people without repercussion, then you are probably going to end up a bully.

I saw this yesterday. Unbelievable. Just really disgusting.

Stuff like this is the reason why the NYPD gets a bad rep. Straight up bully behavior. Not helping the good cops at all.

What does it mean to issue a summons? What is he being summoned for, why do they need to bring him to the station to issue it (which seems kinda weird: "C'mon, I need to take you here so I can give you some paper telling you to come here later.")?

He basically got a small ticket, something along the lines of $15 or $20 for not having an ID present on him.

Apparently, these dipshit cops also rear ended a car on the way to the precinct. Goes to show you what kind of assholes we're dealing with.
