Jeffery Atkins was born and raised in Hollis, Queens. Because of the leap year (an extra day added to the end of February every four years) and the fact that Ja Rule was raised as a Jehovah’s witness, lil Rule actually didn’t celebrate his birthday until he was 11 years old. Ja started rapping as a teenager, first as a part of a crew called Cash Money Click and then on his own. In 1998, he signed to Irv Gotti’s Def Jam imprint, Murder Inc. Records where he worked with the likes of future legends Jay Z, DMX and more. After gaining a buzz with his feature on Jay Z’s “Can I Get A…” by 1999, the gravelly voiced MC dropped his debut album, Venni Vetti Vecci, which debuted at No. 3 on Billboard charts. As rap moved into the new millennium, Ja continued to dominate the charts with his albums, especially 2001’s Pain Is Love, which featured some of his biggest hits to date; “Livin It Up” featuring Case and “Always on Time” featuring Ashanti

Livin It Up

Due to being born on leap year... Ja is technically 10

I came in here expecting him to be 52 years old for some reason.

I forgot the lyrics to living it up and went searching:

I like a little Rule baby, how cute are you?
With a body that rides all sexual
I got a stick, I'll ride right next to you
Do a doughnut, and cut, and I'll open it up
On the freeway, dick in her mouth, foot on the clutch
Rule bitch, not givin' a fuck
What, Iiiii do!

"Never said I wasn't a hypocrite."
Did anyone ask him what he really want?
I hope that everyone is Always on Time to his party.
Cause when they Holla Holla "Happy Birthday", everyone would be Livin' It Up.

Him and Ashanti sure made a great duo. I was in HS when Ja broke out . Was over his music after his second album. 15 years later , it sounds better then majority of what is releasing in present day. Funny how things work out.

Always on Time will remain a legendary song. Amazing then and still amazing now

That guy had like a string of monster hits all over the early 2000s. Then 50 came out and basically murdered him. Crazy how that happens.

Respect to the guy. Those were some big catchy hits.

Ja was co-signed by Jay and DMX, the two biggest rappers of the late 90's early 00's not named Eminem. Had a string of crossover hits and worked mostly with one of the hottest producers at the time.

He became completely irrelevant within a few years, as 50 devoured his soul and became Ja on a larger scale. People actively avoided his music because of the 50 beef. It was insane.

I'm not even a 50 fan, but what he did to ja was straight MURRRDAAAAAAAAA
