Happy Passover JEWGAF

Happy Passover to all of JewishGAF and wannabe JewishGAF.

We received our first Passover miracle when fellow Jew Bernie Sanders decided to stick a fork in the Matzah and spend the rest of his time searching for the afikomen.

We will all spill an extra drop of wine tonight and add another plague to the list. Even though we say next year in Jerusalem, next year COVID FREE!

Say goodbye to bread and yeast and hello to horeradish and boiled eggs.

The greatest gift from Passover though was not God bringing us out of slavery and egypt, no its Cecile B Demilles classic

didn't even know it was passover till I received an email from Taglit
shoulda bought some of those jewish treats the grocery store only stocks for holidays
and those jewish sodas
mmm

i love the Ten Commandments movie. one of the best movies of all time. i will definitely have to watch it again this weekend. fans of the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark who haven't seen this movie need to. the whole magical powers of the ark stuff is very prominent in this film and it even has mystical fire effects. the Angel of Death sequence is still supremely creepy.

i LOVE the line delivery here when Heston is asked "What kingdom has sent you?" and he responds "The kingdom of the most high"

Dipping the herbs in salty water was always my favorite part growing up, other than the food afterward. Don't @ me unless your charoset game is on point.

Yup its a classic. Maybe I am a bit biased because I have seen it so many times especially as a kid, but it really is a great movie. And a great classic Hollywood production, the type of movies they don't make anymore.

I have enjoyed watching the portrayal of Hasidic Judaism in TV shows lately. I've actually learned more and more about the community from watching Unorthodox and Shtisel. Its interesting to see a culture keep its traditions and beliefs after so many years.

there is a great moment in the Ten Commandments when the Angel of Death is sweeping through killing all the firstborn and Moses and his friends are holed up in a house, hearing the death rattles all around them.

while Moses is handing out unleavened bread a snotty kid asks "Why do we have to eat this?". immediately after he asks, you hear someone screaming & dying in the background, and Moses just patiently waits for the screaming to be over before he explains the tradition to this dumb kid. the comic timing of that scene really hit me the last time i saw it. everyone is dying and this kid is complaining about his food lol.

Gonna be all alone for second Seder... with a lemon as my marror and a half box of egg matzos, but I will have a beautiful peach. My people have had humbler ones, and I should be thankful to god that me and my family are alone, strapped, apart, but safe.

L'Shana Haba'ah B'Yerushalayim

also...

Gotta show Prince of Egypt the love it deserves,

Hospice and Jewish services sent my dad some matzo and Kedem grape juice the other day. Wasn't expecting that.

Happy passover Jewgaf. Love your people. I'm a catholic with jewish roots on my father's side (sephardi) and we have many jewish friends. I would spend passover with them this year if it weren't for the quarantine and then easter afterwards. Stay safe and shalom.

Also, Israeli girls are fire. ;)
