Hello NeoGAF, I know a lot of gamers hate mobile games but if anyone could put that hatred aside for a moment and help that would be very nice of you.

My understanding is that Square Enix plans to release all the Dragon Quest games on iOS/Android (or at least 1-8?) at some point. They have released 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 on iOS and Android but I haven’t heard anything about an upcoming release date for 7.

7 was recently released on 3DS outside Japan and perhaps it was naive to expect a simultaneous release on iOS/Android but has Square Enix even acknowledged that they plan to release an iOS/Android version in the future?

They have already released the iOS/Android version in Japan and prior to the 3DS release the main thing holding the title back was the amount of translation involved to localize the game. However with the 3DS version being localized, it's a reasonable assumption that it will eventually be released on iOS/Android in other territories since a mobile version already exists. That’s all I have to go on but it would be better if we had an official announcement or acknowledgement of some type to make their plans clear to the fans.

The Dragon Quest series doesn’t get a lot of attention outside Japan but there are a few loyal but quiet fans of the series lurking about, even on mobile devices.

Nintendo paid a significant amount to have DQVII release in the west. It'll be a while before the mobile version releases, but it will release at some point.

I hope so. Having so many DQ games available on any smartphone or tablet is pretty nice. I doubt I'll own a 3DS in a few years.

That's my line of thinking. The only reason I have a 3DS is for DQ7 but I'll gladly double dip if they localize the iOS and Android versions because I'd rather have all the games on one device.

Nintendo basically paid half the bill. Probably the same for DQ8. I doubt we would have gotten either without their help
