i know what you're saying.

last year, i drove five hours to a concert with a friend. the concert lasted 11 hours, and then he asked me to drive home 0.o

i must have stopped every hour to buy more energy drinks, but i only remember falling asleep at the wheel and realizing it, then dreaming i was about to hit a semi head-on and slamming on my breaks. this happened at least three times.

to this day, i swear i must have died on my way home that night as a) i can't see or remember how i survived and b) after that night, my life turned into a living hell for three or four months before averaging out into a (mostly) forgettable nothingness.

I've done that more than a few times. The game also known as "How long can I rest my eyes before I die."

It's scary and really stupid. I went to a small High School, like 100 in our graduating class. Needless to say, it was a pretty big deal to have a football player get a division 1 scholarship. This guy went to a small D-1 school in North Carolina. He played that game one night. Came home in a wheelchair :(

I've had to pull over once for a half-hour nap, but even knowing someone who was paralyzed when he fell asleep driving, I've played the shut-eye game. It's a thin line I'm sure.

For a more, shall we say..."pelagic" take on this issue (in keeping with the seeming theme of the evening :D), I shall refer you to this thread. :p

What program do you use to photoshop a picture?
same here but it was coming back from a trip i had up in north cali. I was fallen asleep on this straight as hell road for 5 hours. i started to swerve left and right. luckly there were no cars or i woulda caused a series accident. My other friends were knocked the fuck out. i couldnt blame them since we hot boxed my car previously.

No, but a couple of times I could have sworn I've fallen asleep at the wheel, but when I "wake up" I always find myself close to home or parked on my driveway. Freaks me out.

God, I hate graveyard shifts.

Never an accident, but I've driven tired more often than I should have (should be never) and I hate it every time because I'm sure I'm going to die :)

I used to visit my wife at her place (before she was my wife, obviously), and I had to get the car back home for the morning. Driving back home at 4 a.m. I swear I almost ended up on the side of the road a couple of times. Scary as hell.

My internet connection went down at home, and I went to my girlfriends house to do an assignment (the night before it was due). I stayed up all night getting it done and was driving to uni to drop it off.

There was some roadworks on the freeway and the traffic was backed up about 5 kilometres, crawling along.

I remembered looking at the car infront of me and noticing he had a towbar. I chuckled to myself, figuring that if I did fall asleep, no harm would be done. About five minutes later, I was getting pretty drowsy, but I was fighting to stay away. A few minutes again and we were still crawling. I remember putting my foot on the break to stop again, but that's all I remember. I must have rolled forward about 2 metres because I woke up to a *bump*.

I freaked out, but when I saw that I'd just rolled into the guy infront's towbar, I was happy.

The guy hops out of his car, swearing at me. Walks around to the back of his car, sees the towbar, swears at me some more, and hops back in. I just smiled and waved =)

Coming home from night shifts, I used to fall asleep frequently in this one spot. You would come down a hill on a curving road that had a very far view. It was pretty... so I guess it was relaxing. I fell asleep five or six times and ended up out in these grassy fields every single time. Luckily, I drove a 72 Chevy Wagon at the time, so nothing could hurt me in that tank.

Coming up the same hill, but on the way to a night shift after an evening of no sleep, I hit a sheep while traveling at about 70 mph. Did $3700 in damage to my Civic... but I managed to drive roughly 30 more miles with the entire front end of the car ruined, so that says something for import motors.

Today's lesson: take your tired ass to bed a little bit earlier. Better to miss a tv show or party and make it places alive, imo.

Heh, I read the thread title to mean: anyone ever see a fresh car wreck while driving along tired, and decide to climb into it to get some sleep or something? Had to chuckle at that; how fucked up would you have to be? And then to post a thread about it ... :p

a friend of mine nodded off after staying up all night revising, hit a bmw but nothing major. He's a nutter on the road though, little boy racer. He crashed again recently

This girl I dated... her cousin actually fell asleep behind the wheel and hit a tractor trailer head on. She died on impact.
