I just bought a Dell 700m and love it to death, but now I need either a bag or a sleeve to keep it in. I have a messenger-like bag I've been using for a few years, so I was considering going the cheaper route and just buying a laptop sleeve to keep the computer in and throw it in my current bag, but a bag from Timbuk2 caught my eye.

It's the Detour and you can use it either with a shoulder strap, backpack straps, or the carrying handle. This appeals to me, because I'm a commuting student and carry my bag everywhere, and my current bag is shoulder strap only, but sometimes I yearn to be able to do the backpack thing because the shoulder I carry it with will get really sore.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with Timbuk2 bags? I'd like more info on them before I plop down $100 on one. I'm going to a local Apple store to check it out this weekend.

I got a Timbuk 2 laptop bag for free at E3 from Nintendo. I use it to carry my 15" Powerbook. The laptop fits like a glove, it's the absolute perfect size. Also, the bag is awesome. It's very sturdy.

I don't know if it's worth $100, but the Timbuk2 bag I've been using since May (the same one StikerObi describes) has been nothing but awesome. This thing is really high quality, there's no visible wear or marks after 7 months of being tossed about almost daily.

It's funny to note that I saw several of the Nintendo E3 Press Kits (with the Timbuk2 bag) sell for $30 on eBay shortly after E3.

I got one for my 17" PB and love it - had it for a year now and use it everyday heavily - always getting knocked around and whatnot on the subway - but still looks new - very sturdy. Worth the price tag.

I have had mine since 1998. It is been through international travel through 9 countries and years of school. Nothing is frayed and it looks like the day i bought it. However for a laptop bag i would not use it if you value your spine. I have a brenthaven bag for my mac laptop and it is the finest bag i have had, and that bag has also been through school and international travel and it is still nice.
