Hasta la Vista Trump. Celebrity Apprentice is Back with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Fun fact: Arnold forfeited any salary for Twins and opted for a percentage in royalties instead. That amounted to something around 30-40 million when it was first released. He still gets paid for it till this day.

That was very forward-thinking. I wonder if he did it for any other roles?

He probably tried, but I doubt any studios let him after Twins blew up. No one believed Arnold would work in comedy, boy did he prove them wrong. AFAIK that's still the movie that's made him the most money. He got a percentage of everything--not just ticket sales but merchandise, video, airing rights etc

Ryan Reynolds did the same thing with Deadpool and he made bank.

All members of the cast and crew get a cut of future earnings: residuals. Arnold will still be earning money on all his past movies for that reason, as will every other actor in Hollywood.

Taking a cut of the box office instead of an up-front payment is the only unusual thing about the Twins deal. There are examples of actors doing it on risky projects that turn out to be monster hits and making silly money, e.g. Alec Guinness on Star Wars (0.45% of the box office).

I had heard that he was the replacement. My question is, does Trump receive any financial gain from Celebrity Apprentice?

So what company does Schwarzenegger run again?

Before he acted he was a self-made millionaire, after he moved to the US he started a few mail order bodybuilding equipment companies and then invested heavily in real estate, buying and selling rental properties. He currently has a pretty vast business empire including owning a mutual fund, property, and leasing airplanes to airlines. Unlike Trump it was all self-made, his parents were poor and he grew up in a house without electricity or hot water.

Good lord; he's basically the anti-Trump.

I bet when Trump started his campaign he assumed it would be done in time for the next season.

That said, I bet NBC can't WAIT to hire him back for the following season. Can you imagine how crazy the ratings will be for his return to reality TV? Actually, he probably WON'T go back to Celebrity Apprentice, I'm sure he'll just have a brand new show.
NBC doesn't want to be associated with someone who is toxic to advertisers.

Money is the antidote to toxins. Big corporate advertisers' formula is pretty simple. There are two numbers.

[a] the amount of money they feel they'll make on advertising, based on how many (and which) eyeballs the rating numbers say said advertisements will play in front of.

The amount of money they feel they'll lose from consumers who are offended enough to actually avoid spending money with the advertiser (note, the number of people offended enough to take action does not equal the number of people of are merely offended).

NBC doesn't have scruples or a sense of morality, nor do their advertisers. If they think that [a] > , The Don gets a new show. If they think < [a], he doesn't.

Real talk, Schwarzenegger has lived probably the most impressive rags to richest story on the planet.

the fastest growing demographic to American network advertisers is hispanics. Nobody is going anywhere near Trump.

That was certainly the case.

At least we know that he wasn't born with a silver spoon like Trump was.

Fun Fact: Frank Columbu was the Infiltrator Terminator in Reese's dream in T1.

And Keanu for the matrix flicks...sad Keanu is rich Keanu.

Wow. One day the host of celebrity apprentice might be president.

Just need to amend the constitution first.

No thank you. I didn't watch it the first time around, and even though I like Arnold ten thousand times more than Trumpy, I'm still not interested.

I don't think that is true. His finances were released when he was governor and leaked when he was divorcing Maria Schriver. He split about $400 million with Schriver. About the cost of a 747.

I'd say he's more successful than trump. Richer, probably not. but Arnie was governor of a state, Mr. Universe, one of the most influential actors of our time, and built his fortune from scratch. From running a state whose GDP rivals many countries, to being considered the peak of human conditioning, to building an empire from his own two hands. Trump isn't nearly as successful.

Arnie has been successful in just about everything he's done. Politics, film, fitness, enterprise. Hell, if he could run for president, I'd give him a much better chance than Trump.

My assertion is that Trump is underwater with debt.

Birther movement 2.0.
Honestly I think the majority of the people on that side wouldn't give a damn if it was Arnold.

It is so bizarre to me that he won two elections for governor of California
He is just so damn likeable and "cool" its almost automatic, like you see him doing a bad job and you don't legitimately hate him you actually kinda feel bad for him yet cheer for him to do better.

Like imagining him as President is awesome in thought despite having decent proof it wouldn't work out all that well for us.
And at the same time i'd kind of like to see him get that incredible achievement but know that I actually shouldn't.

Based on what facts?
When the US government leased the Old Post Office to the Trump Organization, wouldn't they have asked for finances and not leased it to an insolvent entity?

the NYT investigation unambiguously shows at LEAST $650M debt in the US alone and his behaviors statements and known business practices.

He literally cannot borrow from US banks. His main business practice is to fail, then threaten creditors that they'll get nothing unless they accept cents on the dollar. There's an excellent chance in the final accounting, that he is worth less than zero.

If the argument is that he can keep kicking the debt can down the road while ruining other people's lives and finances, that does not make him a good businessman and it certainly makes him a terrible person.

The fact that there are mortgages on the properties is not any evidence that there is an excellent chance in the final accounting that someone is underwater. You can easily get appraisals for the properties. In fact, the NYT article provides an independent appraisal the 2 properties constituting a majority of the debt ($465 million of debt connected to Trump):
Green Street Advisors, a real estate research firm, estimates the combined value of the two buildings to be about $3.7 billion.

I am not sure there is any reputable news outlet that claims there is an excellent chance in the final accounting that he is worth less than zero.

I do not know where the claim is that he literally cannot borrow from US banks, when the NYT piece says he has mortgages from UBS Real Estate Securities; Goldman Sachs Mortgage Company, Pacific Life Insurance Company, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Wells Fargo.
