Although, is it really necessary to wear a tie?

Why are you even applying for retail if you worked IT?

This is fucking Best Buy. They walk around in blue polo shirts and khakis.
Wouldn't something like, say, khakis and a decent looking button down shirt be more than sufficent?
I've been on interviews where you need to dress professionally, and I doubt Best Buy would be one of them. Perhaps if it was for a management position, you would want to look nicer, but for selling video games and stuff, come on. You don't wanna look like a slob, but you shouldn't have to go overkill, either.
Re-read what I said. It's commission without commission. You're selling shit and your job security requires it, but you make nothing extra for any work you do.whytemyke said:and liu kang is dead wrong-- nothing in best buy is commission. hasn't been since like 1999.
you'll have the job.NinSoX said:Hello guys, thanks for the discussion.
I just returned from my interview and it went very well, although my stomach did start to growl from hunger (embarrassing).
Anyway, they really liked that I knew so much about video games and computers. I'm going in tomorrow for a "3rd" interview (wtf, I only had ONE) with the general manager to discuss morals.
What do you think? Job or no?
Certianly sounds like you're headed in the right direction. Best wishes.NinSoX said:Hello guys, thanks for the discussion.

Exactly.EviLore said:I've never seen anyone wear a tie for a BB interview. It's one step up from fast food. Wear a tie and you might scare the manager into thinking you're overqualified and not susceptible to the corporate brainwashing.
NinSoX said:Thanks racerx77.
Eh, I did take the advice and wore dress shirt and slacks. There was absolutely no way I would wear a tie for BB because of what Evilore said..that's why I kind of overreacted when a few of you suggested a tie (and bow tie:lol ).
If the blues are not the same, and contrast, yes.Ecrofirt said:Can I wear a blue tie with black pants and a blue shirt?
