at work?
I've never fallen asleep at work, but I'll tell you, there's been times where I've caught myself doing the stupid head bob, meetings where I'm so sleepy I can't see straight, and where I've had to pinch myself to keep from nodding off :/
I remember one time when I was working for a telco - the first day I'm getting paraded around from cubicle to cubicle, meeting the people I'm supposed to work with and we come to one person's pod, let's call him Steven.
Orientation guy: *as we are walking to the cubicle* And here is Steven's spot, he's one of the DBA's on the project
Me: *following right behind* Okay
Orientation guy: Steven meet...oh
I look inside the cubicle and Steven is sleeping...not just in his chair, but on the desk, arm stretched out and practically snoring. We left his cubicle pretty quickly and not a word was said about it. Ever. Felt sorry for the poor guy, but he obviously didn't care and made a decision that he was gonna be sleeping in his cubicle that day (and it couldn't have been past 10am). It was hard to work with him after that without picturing him drooling on his desk, heh.
More companies should allow power naps, I'm pretty sure most people would benefit immensely.
So, you ever been caught? Did you get reprimanded/fired/congratulated? Just curious.
