Have you ever "quit" gaming?

Quit intentionally? Naw

Did I take a year-long break while I was dating a girl? Yup. But again, not intentionally quitting - just all my free time was spent with her or out doing stuff. Still played occasionally at friends houses but there was a solid 15 months where I didn't really play anything solo.

There have been periods of my life where I've been busy with other stuff and hobbies and I've played less games.
But fully quitting games to me would be like quitting watching movies or reading books, I doubt I'll ever do so.

No, but I understand why one would. As of now I'm considering reducing the time I play games drastically.

There are important things I should be doing and decisions to make, but I've been putting them on hold because at the end of the day, after work, I prioritize relaxing and distracting myself by playing games. And that's fine, but it takes too much time that I could be using productively in something else that would bring me much more joy and comfort in the middle to long term.

I hope I don't ever want to quit gaming entirely, though. Or if I do, it's because I've found something much more important and meaningful to me and not because I've grown disinterested.

The only reason to "quit" gaming is if you're an online gamer and it became an unhealthy obsession. I have known people to fuck up their degrees and entire companies to fail due to MMO addictions.

Partners may also force people to quit gaming, but that's not a reason to quit, more that you made poor choices by selecting someone that will force you to abandon your hobbies🤣

There was one point where I was going out a lot, and nightlife replaced gaming as my hobby. I came back to gaming after I had my fix of partying. Lasted about three years or so?

I have stopped playing videogames for up to a year at a time. More often, it's several months. I don't think of it as "quitting" so much as losing interest.

Yes. In like 2008 for awhile when basically nothing remotely interesting was coming out. Nintendo went for awhile and didn't make anything i was interested in for like 4-5 years outside of very rare exceptions. I ultimately wasn't a fan of the remote+nunchuck past Mario Galaxy wearing off it's newness (amazing game). 360 was good, I bought one, realize it had nothing I wanted to play, so I went for like almost a year and only played RISK on my Xbox, became quite addicted. Eventually did some digging around and discovered Lost Odyssey, went out and bought it. Quickly was enthralled and it ended up becoming my favorite 360 game by far, outside of Skyrim. To this day one of the very finest JRPGs of the modern era. At this point, Nintendo was still not making much I cared out. And indies hadn't really become a thing yet. Weird times, for sure. RISK and Lost Odyssey.
