Having a social life is annoying

Having friends stinks

Every weekend these retards hit me up to chill

Like, no, I'm good bro

I just wanna be alone and watch Angel for the umpteenth time, or play Tekken online

I don't wanna sit around and watch you smoke your bong and put something annoying on YouTube that you think is funny

My friends are ass tier, I swear

I need some gym bros or something, fuck stoners

It's very telling if hanging out with people is a chore. I feel the same way spending time with pretty much anyone though. Would rather spend my free time doing something else, but I don't wanna end up a recluse so I pay my people bills, so to speak

Found myself in the same situation and kinda just started to decline invitations and stuff. After some time people started to move on and stop calling. I‘m fine with that mostly but it‘s really not for everyone. Be mindful of what you do.

Looking back I found even going out with the buddies extremely hit and miss. Here and there we had an AMAZING time and I sometimes do get nostalgic when thinking back but when I take a moment get some perspective into my memory I realize that mostly hanging out was just shit and boring. Get drunk, meet some boring broads and then come home and wonder why I didn‘t just stay at home, hit the gym, then read a book and go to bed early.

And every time I try and go out again I am almost instantly reminded on the same thing. Way too little people actually care to do something interesting. And I hear it in the office every day. When the only thing folks can talk about is how they got drunk on the weekend you know what‘s been going on… nothing.

Yeah, J JimmyRustler

You seem to understand where I'm coming from. Used to party hard here in Detroit. Harder than I'd care to admit lmao. Now that I'm sober, I just reeeeaaallllllllyyyy don't see the personal benefit in it. I'll have like an occasional bonfire, or something, here to appease people, but it's exactly that.

Guess I wish I established more for myself over the last decade or so. I have a house to myself and a halfway decent job, but as a 30 year old, I'd much rather be a family man of sorts at this point than entertaining some stoners on the weekend lol.

I just keep declining or ignoring texts and people are miffed about it. Like what's so cool to them about sitting in my living room? I don't get it

Sound like myself but possibly for different reasons. My wife and I hate guests in general. Very close family are exceptions... but they never stay more than an hour or two. Always hated that when someone would invite me over to watch videos on YouTube that were "trending" and ignore real conversation. Can't even get someone to play cards with or a decent board games. Cheers to barring guests over the weekends and binging on older T.V. shows 🍻

Three Stooges and Sanford & Son today.

Love me some Sanford & Son Happosai Happosai

When should I head over? 😅

So invite your friends to play Tekken with you instead?

They don't like playing with me because I always stomp and they just mash lol

I understand though. Last time I tried this dude brought over his fiancé and she kept slamming on my stick like a banshee. I genuinely had to scold her like, "dude, that costs more than you probably realize and doesn't belong to you"

I'm a curmudgeon 😇

I can relate somewhat.
While i am not as antisocial as OP appears to be, i have always been a lone wolf.
My workday consists of working and communicating with others all day long, so whenever I am off i prefer solitude with my wife or close family. I was never one to have many friends, and those that are don’t see me regularly either.
I just want to be left in peace.

I had a friend like this. He'd invite you round and all we did was drink beer and watch funny shit on youtube on the TV.

I could do that in my own house and be watching a movie from my backlog instead. I just cut him off in the end, I realized I was the friend he'd call when he was bored.

Yeah, I've got my own little Teezzy World here. Antique furniture, 32" Trinitron CRT for my beloved 90s/00s TV on DVD boxsets, and my Wii, PS2, and Xbox games; a king sized bed, and a mad decent PC rig with the works. To top it off, a bookshelf full of cheaply acquired classics I'll totally read someday and I happen to be a halfway decent cook so I rarely order out.

It's a nice life in actuality. Real nice. To FreedomOfSpeech FreedomOfSpeech 's point, not everyone has taken the time to curate their own little utopia at home. I guess i can see why people wanna infiltrate my setup 😅

You guys cheered me up kind of, thank you 😊

My penthouse is my big mans playpen. Movies, games, custom made kitchen and a sweet balcony garden. I don't need to go hang out in anyones pokey little apartment.

You would fit right in, on vrchat, you could use Angel as your avatar

Then stop socializing with them?

In all seriousness, you're just growing up. Only young people are concerned with hanging out and keeping up more then an occasional text/facebook message. As you get older, hanging out just isn't a priority to many, and making time for "friends" just to hang out and watch youtube sounds like the dumbest shit I've heard in years. As you age you fall out of contact with more and more people from your past self, it's perfectly normal. Work on finding a significant other that you like to be around and that's enough.

Yeah that makes sense

Like the idea of 40+ year old dudes just hanging out and chilling around a TV is a very laughable image - unless there's like a football game on or something. Dudes like actually doing stuff, but these guys are like stuck in arrested development or something. Explains the weed imho

I'll get back on the relationship train again sooner than later. Just, God they're always just as annoying 🙄

Thanks Dthomp Dthomp

Much appreciated input

The number one thing I hate about having friends is that you end up spending so much money when hanging out, eating out, going places.

Today I met with a friend and we had a good burger. Expensive in a luxurious part of town. Our plan was then to go to see the new SAW, but the theater’s power went out and we didn’t even get to see the movie. They didn’t refund my tickets either. I was so pissed.

I just want to stay in my safe cozy home and chill. I do like having friends but it is indeed a chore and sometimes a waste of time, money and energy.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Same OP. I got a life to live and "hanging around" aimlessly isn't it.

Why not choose people to do things with that have more going on than smoking pot? I just came from an amazing day/night with a good woman friend. Yes, we're platonic.

Great conversation, we watched a movie and had dinner (she paid her own way the whole time). No stress and we genuinely have fun whenever we're together. I never feel like I'm burdened or like it is a chore.

And I'm an introvert.

The trick is... Don't do weekends every dang weekend and only do what you're comfortable with WITH who you're comfortable with.

Yeah find better friends might be the answer here but thats tough advice. I was lucky to have a circle of friends that I kept from high school that I genuinely liked and our relationships ran the life course from doing drugs and dumb shit to us all getting married and having kids and chilling out, to the diaspora phase where a couple of us moved away and then I did too at 40. Anyway my sister married one of my best friends from high school (dont fall into the trope where you try to fight him or some shit having a brother in law thats your friend is awesome) and I live near them now, we hang out like once a month and honestly thats the the only social interaction I need these days.

Every time I go out with friends and get wasted, I always regret it. Not because of the money, but because that time could be used for something to improve myself or to just rest. Having my own routine, doing my things, working out, chilling with my gf... those are the type of things I like. Once in a while going out for some dinner or something it's not bad, but I think that if I'm not being productive at that time I should at least rest or have some fun myself.

I'm 28 and I feel like this more and more.

We ended up hanging out

He didn't bring his annoying fiancé

We played SNES on my Wii

Then he wanted to watch me play Tekken... so I let him

No pot was smoked

Wasn't that bad

Sorry for the thread, friend. Guess I'm just a jerk and he wanted to get out of the house for a bit

40y.o's dont hang out, we wait till the heavens align and our schedules are free from kids shit, wive chores and house maintenance, we then meet up and drink like we're 18... Well that's what we do here in Ireland, sounds to me you're in that transition period where you leave the hanging out with each other to settling down and having kids that most people go through, cept you don't have the kids bit but have other interests... It's called life, the fucker finally catches up with us all
