Now that more movies are coming out on the two HD formats and some people are just now taking the next step into the HD war I'd like to see some people work on some reviews and post them here. This will sort of be like the screenshot threads on the gaming forum. I would like the reviews all by themselves in the post and I'll link to them in this post. Make sure you only do one review per-post.

HD DVD

Blu Ray

This will not end well.

There are several review sites out there from Home Theater Spot, to Home Theater Hifi, to High Def Digest. Let's keep all the High Def talk in that one giant thread.

I will post some bluray movie screenshots that I took last night on my TV. :)

DLP? I can see the rainbow effect on those shots.

I don't see the rainbow effect on DLP, but I see the stuff on these images. I think they're just a result of taking off-screen pics.

Yes I don't see rainbow on my tv when I watch it. It is a result of taking the picture off screen.

While this is a good idea, we have a semi self contained thread, and there are a ton of great resources allready out there for individual disc reviews.

Maybe someone could edit the original post in the Petraca suicide watch thread with this kind of info?

I'll take a stab at this.

Reservoir Dogs (BluRay)

I'm not the afficianando some are, but I have noticed a lot of older movies just don't pop on HD. Presumably this is due to the quality of the print. Reservoir Dogs does not suffer from this problem. If you ever wanted to see the beads of sweat on paranoid robbers pop out at you, get this disc.

It lacks the kind of action that define a lot of "reference" titles, but throughout the movie, the sharpenss, coupled with the claustrophobic nature of the film and the amount of close-ups and long shots in the movie make for a very satisfying HD experience.

Good idea, but I don't think there are enough GAF members to sustain this kind of thread on top of the other mega-thread (at least based on the regular posters in it).

Anny comment as to how Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within looks on Blu-Ray? Wasn't a good movie at all, but damn it looked good :D.
