HD-DVD for 360 is pretty certain?

I was mistaken. It was Universal Music Grooup that joined Blue Ray. However, you probably will not see the 360 with HD-DVD. Remember the articles about MS forcing support for HD-DVD through Vista? They are being threatened suit if they go through with it. We'll see tomorrow, though.

This is the 2nd disc on the T2 Extreme Edition that contains the HD 1080p version of the movie and can only be played on a PC with Windows Media 9 or higher.

It's not 1080p

General Information
What is on the T2: EXTREME DVD?
This two-disc set includes the following features:

Disc 1: A version that can be played in a DVD player, typically connected to a television.
Disc 2: A bonus DVD that contains a full length theatrical, high-definition WM9S version of the movie for PC playback in 5.1 channel WM9 surround sound (not compatible with Dolby® Digital).
The resolution of the Windows Media version of the film is 1920x816. By comparison, standard DVD video formatted for NTSC televisions is 720x480.
The total file size is 6.5 GB.
Total running time is 152 minutes.
The bit-rate is CBR 6.8 Mbps.

t2 = 1566720 pixels per frame

1080p = 2073600 pixels per frame

720p = 921600

16:9 480p = 345600

Their math for the bitrate doesn't work out, if you divide the size by the running time it's more like 5.8mbps, and that must include audio.

I'm sure it looks good but there has to be compromises to get that resolution of video and 5.1 audio to fit into that bitrate

T2 was shot in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio so the resolution stated makes sense. How they achieve the letterbox on a 16:9 display is a mystery though.

As above, T2 on the HD WM9 version was 2.35:1 aspect ratio, so those pixel dimensions are most likely what the film would use of the 1080x1920 display.

My guess would be that your PC would define a 1080x1920 area, and then place the image within that area accordingly.
