HDTV Broadcast question

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
So when the broadcast change over happens in 2006 or whenever, and only digitial signals will be broadcast, will older tv's still be usable? Will a "down-converter" be necessary? Any info is appreciated.

I belive if you dont get a HDTV you need to get a converter...

If you watch satellite or cable, you'll be fine. If you receive your network programming from an antenna, you'll need a digital set top box. When we got our HD Tivo, we moved our older HD STB to the upstairs TV, which is a 10+ year old TV with no cable or sat. connection. The digital broadcasts come in much better than the analog ones ever did.
