Headphones guru, I need your help!

Having used to death my previous Sony DJ-300 and MDR-380, I'm looking for a new gaming / music headset

A friend of mine told me about the TECHNICS RP-DH1200, so whoever has it, or whoever has a better headphone for gaming use, please just tell.

We had an older thread, but since then, a lot can change (the thread is almost a year old) so, what's your take?

What's your budget?
Anything Sennheiser would be a good bet, I'd recommend the HD-280 Pro model if you're tight on money.

Mhh I'd say 100$ (US), so for that price, and without paying more for the brand that the product (*cough* senheiser *cough*) I want the best that's available ;)

Technics headphones are the shit, if you don't give a crap about 5.1 sound in your headphones I'd get the model you named in your first post, can't go wrong.

I use a pair of Grado SR125's, which run about $150. You can get the SR80's, which sound nearly as good, for $95 at amazon. They're not the best for games, and they leak sound, but you won't find a better music headphone for the money. Period.

Mhh this year it's pretty sennheiser centric.

Thanks for the input guys, I don't need surround and I definitely don't need leaks while listening (or my coworkers will kill me ;))

I may stick with my first choice (the Technics one) unles someone has a really good idea (or reason why not to)

RS2's? Damn you're hardcore, haha. I could never spend that much on a pair of cans, but ohhhhh would I love to.

To the original poster, if you're looking for headphones for work, then steer away from the grados. Even at low to moderate volume, I can hear them from quite a distance away.

I still gotta say though, for home listening and pure sound quality, you're NOT going to find anything better or more sonically accurate for the price.
