I guess I'm really emotionally hardened because I'm not emotionally devastated or even depressed by the death of someone I don't know in any capacity who was in approximately two movies I sort of recall his performances in. Some of you are acting like this is the death of your firstborn son.

I'm not saying I condone all the tasteless goings on, and yes, someone died tragically, but let's not get all up in arms here. Do you cry reading the obit pages?

P.S. The "we're automatically assuming he killed himself with drug abuse and making moral judgments about his character as a result" crowd still pisses me off. Depression and drug abuse aren't just rational choices we make and can immediately escape from. They're fucking horrible illnesses.

yeah. he got a bunch of crappy roles when he first came to the US, but he had been getting excellent roles recently.

The reason Mewes disappeared for quite a while was because he was a heroin junkie ... and for part of that time, he was hiding from the law iirc.

Crap, for a while Smith was completely unsure of his whereabouts, and was concerned he may have been dead.

That's a shame. TDK was going to be pretty big for him.

Also, no shock to see folks doing the usual 'cry for attention' posting. As is the norm in death threads on the Internet.

I always hate when celebrities die because all of the crazy fucks come out of hiding and profess their utter love and desire for said celebrity. It is a shame, though - but my week isn't ruined. Hopefully they won't make a big deal about this on the news (fat chance) and the family will be left alone (fat chance #2).

I doubt it. The movie was completed and there are plenty of months between Ledger's death and the release of the film.

Well the family live in Perth and they've already released a statement about their grief so they're safe now.

And people have not been banned for saying far worse in other death threads. That's what makes GAF's sense of morality so funny, it varies so much depending on the popular opinion of said deceased. Heath Ledger died, and though he was just an actor known to abuse drugs and alcohol, don't make a single joke or say a negative word! He's The Joker dude!

Anna Nicole Smith dies, and who cares? "rot in hell, gold digger!" was one amazing quote I remember from that thread from someone who was not banned. It just depends on the mods around at the time and whether or not they were fans of the people who died.
