Yeah but the TGA's made the update, obviously.
I know you people are joking but we're talking about sales not CCU here. New buyers need exposure somehow whether that's TGA or friends lists. I can't say I've seen games top the sales charts that often by simply releasing an update but I could be wrong.

We need the Pro patch. The IQ is absolutely atrocious. At least the engine they are using is dead, so they'll have to move to something Sony in-house or just license UE.

Does it have cross progression? I dont want to start over moving from PS5 to PC? I remember they wanted to do it before launch but it wasnt working..

I jumped on last night, played two boring matches and quit.

Gameplay is completely cooked. It's just more chaotic shooting everywhere with very little variability. They need to fix the progression and the mission variety for Helldivers 3 ASAP. They're so close to a gold mine.

Didn't they promote the updates at the game awards? I mean.....this isn't just a coincidence.
This, not because of TGA, lmao

Yes, it's a coincidence. The reason is that this is by far the most important update they released, one that tons of players were waiting for months.

Many other games were also promoted at the TGA and only this one had this crazy peak. The reason is the update, not being released there.

GaaS normally get CCU peaks when very important game updates that add important, highly demanded new features and content are released. Not when promoted at TGA.

Makes sense. They clearly coordinated this update with the TGAs. Worked quite well.

It is possible that two factors impacted the games player performance.
I mean the rise correlates with the TGA announcement time with it coming at 9pm my time (CST). It was definitely a combination of both because you don't go from 20,033 players, right after it's peak, to over 100k more players without some significant event causing it. People were watching not just the official stream, but also those of major streamers and channels so the message was amplified. If you check the hashtag a majority of the liked ones contains #TGA or a variation of it because that's where they heard the announcement. I feel that you were correct with your initial thought.

So.....not a coincidence.
Yes, it's a coincidence.

The TGA promo without the update would have been basically a zero bump. This update without the TGA promo would have created almost the same bump. Update + TGA promo = what we got.

TGA promos don't generate huge CCU peaks. Many games already released on Steam also got a TGA promo and none of them got this bump. This one got it because it had a ton of content that a lot of players were asking for since months ago.

Big updates for GaaS with highly awaited meaty/important/heavily awaited content like this one (new enemy faction + new setting + new vehicles + new weapon types + more) generates big CCU peaks without TGA promo. Example: when in SF5 or SF6 -or fighting games in general- the game gets a new beloved character or gets a big rebalance update that fixes some issues the player were asking to fix.

Disagree on both counts, but we are arguing hypotheticals so moving on.
