My most pressing concern is Xenosaga Episode 2.
I am a really big fan of Xenogears and of the original Xenosaga. I don't care about it's little defaults, like the endless dungeons, the difficulty, and the hour-long cinematics. I like the ambiance and the story. But of course, the reviews look worse, and I have read the issues of the writers, Monolith Soft and Namco, I don't know what to do.
Right now I have got Xenosaga 2 as a pre-order on amazon.ca, plus a coupon on it that will expire on january 31. In order to use the five dollars coupon, I have to cancel my pre-order before that date to use it on some other game. I saw that Tales of Symphonia may soon become a player's choice so I will wait, right now if I had another game to buy that would be either Baiten Kaitos or Star Ocean 3. I have nearly all the hits that I want, but I cannot really think of other interesting games that have been issued that I really want to buy.
I would like ultimately to buy the games that will keep their value and not become a GH like Xenosaga Episode 1 did.
Right now I look at the list of games I want to buy which are announced:
PlayStation2:
Devil May Cry 3 (for sure if the reviews are good)
Phantasy Star Trilogy (as soon as Futureshop.ca or amazon.ca lists the damn game)
Ys: Ark of Napishtim (same as above, plus it will support this niche rpg-genre)
Xbox:
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath (I don't know if I should either wait for the price drops or buy new)
Jade Empire (for sure)
Star Wars: Republic Commando (I don't know much about this game, it looked good in some mag, I will probably wait for a price drop)
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (I will wait for a price drop unless the reviews are extremely good)
Conker: Live and Reloaded (only if the reviews are really good, I don't like the current stash of Rare games)
GameCube:
Star Fox Assault (will wait for a price drop, it looks good but average)
Geist (will wait for the reviews, looks interesting enough tough)
Killer 7 (I don't know anything about this game, I will probably wait for a price drop)
Advance Wars: Under Fire (for sure)
Fire Emblem (for sure also)
The Legend of Zelda (the game I look forward to the most)
As for PC games I am waiting to upgrade my PC before I commit into buying these games again.
I would like to buy immediately after release or pre-order the games that will ultimately keep their value, and wait for a price drop/greatest hits as for the others. Can you help me sort this so I can get the most out of my dollars? I can buy more, thanks for the loonie's exchange rate.
Also, I can only buy online. Are there any other alternatives than Futureshop.ca and Amazon.ca? There was Playcentric.ca but it got closed, still no Ebgames.ca store, all the other seem really low-key. I hate these two sites, because Futureshop has a very short listing (altough I love the 10 dollars rebates and I buy new releases applenty thanks to these deals), misses on titles, and Amazon.ca has respectable prices, but there are serious holes in their listings, games not listed, and as for pre-orders, sometimes major games are not listed at all. I was so angry, they never listed Vampire Bloodlines! Is there a better online alternative for canadians?
If i was to pre-order from a US site, which would be the most canadian-friendly? Ebgames.com is bloody expensive because of Fedex and the customs fees, Gamestop seems to be not that bad.
