This seems simple enough to fix so I'm embarrassed even asking for help but what I tried isn't working so whatever.
Suddenly my PC stopped its mouse movement (I'm typing on my other Mac now). It then had trouble rebooting. I have some cheap ass virus protection on the PC and ran a scan and it said something like the boot sector of the C drive was corrupted which seemed serious and it did have trouble rebooting (it would start and reboot it self over and over.)
Well finally I got it to get to the desktop cleanly and did a system restore to an earlier date which fixed the reboot issue but the mice issue was still there as it wouldn't move. So using the keyboard and arrows keys I checked out the device manager and didn't even see my mouse listed there. I went to the control panel and checked the mouse that way and clicked on the properties and the drivers were completely missing for the mouse. There was no data there.
So I figured well simple enough and went here
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/Download.mspx
and downloaded the microsoft driver figuring that was generic enough to work with my mouse which is just some HP mouse that came with the computer. Unfortunately after installing it still doesn't seem to work. Is there something I'm missing here. This seems like something easily fixable without having to do something drastic like re-install windows but I'm stuck at the moment.
