Help! Super Emipre Strikes Back is making me it's b****!!

I got this along with Batman Returns, and Castlevani IV today at GameXChange (is that a local chain?). Well, my problem is I can get to the second part of the 1st level with realtively no problem, but as soon as I get to those wampas I can't get near them without them turning me into an ice sickle:( Man, I'm going to have a heart attack if the game is as really as difficult as people say. Any tips?

Maybe...is it in oklahoma city? seems like it would be pretty popular name for any mom and pop videogame store too. Here in okc we have many of them.

The Super Star Wars games for SNES were notoriously hard. I had Empire and never got very far, and rented Star Wars and had the same problem.

Eh, I didn't they were that hard, aside from a few pesky areas, though they definitely were not a cakewalk. The Emperor at the end of RotJ did own me, though. Bastard.

Tip 1) The near-invincible lightsaber twirling jump is your friend.
Tip 2) Use a blaster on the wampas. IIRC, they had some sort of freezing breath.
Tip 3) Don't suck so much.

It's cool to know peopel are still playing the 16-bit classics. Congrats on the purchase.

Stick with it, its tough all the way through, but if you can survive Hoth, you'll make it through.

By the time you get the Force moves on Dagobah, the game because a truly rewarding experience.

Final battle with Vader is a pretty good boss battle too! Best game of the Super Star Wars trilogy.

I remember the Super Star Wars games; Return of the Jedi was defiantly the hardest of the three. To try and answer your question, to the best of my knowledge, the blaster fully charged usually works wonders if your getting smoked by non boss characters, but if that doesnÂ’t work don't give up on the game, it's pretty fun, and as people have said before, once you get past the Yoda levels the game gets easier.

And on a completely unrelated note, anyone remember that stash of lives you got in Super Star Wars on like the third level from falling down a pit, I remember freaking out with excitement when I found that for the first time, ahhh, memories.

Good point about the blasters. Sometimes I'd restart a whole level if I was having trouble instead of going from the 'continue' point because it was easier with the blaster power-ups.

That game was such a bitch. I remember the level on Hoth where your snowspeeder ship takes up half the goddamn screen, and you have to dodge a bunch of lasers and shit that are flying right at you.

Is this a joke? ROTJ was simple compared to the first two.

Speaking of that secret stash of lives in the third level in Super Star Wars, is there any way to get back up? I remember always having to lose a life.

I specifically remember just abusing the patterns of the larger enemies in that game. If I remember right:

1) Don't rush forward, eke forward so that you aren't overrun with enemies.
2) Use the double lightsaber jump like crazy.
3) When confronted with a large enemy, watch their patterns and abuse it by punishing them when they pause in their attack. Safest tactic is to run in as they go into that momentary pause. Then when you're right next to them, double jump backwards, so that you hit them with the lightsaber as you jump out of the way of their next attack. Dodge, run in, repeat.

God, I miss my 16-bit games.

Yeah each game got easier.

I don't really know what to say though. The game really isn't that hard, though the last boss took me a little while to figure out his pattern. I remember beating each of these games in a weekend rental.

I remember being able to pass the first few levels by sliding and doing the twirl attack like crazy. That won't let you pass the later levels, but as I remember it is enough to get you past the first few levels.

Really fun game though, try and stick with it.

They got easier? Huh.

I beat Super Star Wars on rental. I got Empire more recently and found it to be unplayable garbage.

I loved this game. Force powers, selectable characters, flying Darth Vader. What's not to love? Why aren't developers making more games like these for GBA/DS?? UBI?!?

EDIT: I only beat Super Star Wars on Jedi level, I could never finish SESB on Jedi. Was it even possible?

Damn. As someone mentioned before, Empire was easily the best of the series.
