I Dled a file and changed the extension so that windows media could play it. It didn't work so I tried to change the exention back, but it still has the .wmv at the end of it and it shows as a windows media file. Is there a way to get it back to it's original state? Thanks.

assuming you are using winxp

open my computer


click TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS>VIEW> and UNCHECK "Hide Extensions for known file types" > then hit apply




afterwards just rename it



movie.avi (rename) movie.wmv

windows will yell at you saying your changing the file type, click ok
