So basically about a month ago my laptop stopped charging. Looked at the power wire and the green light on the box connected to the power cord was out (guess that's like a converter?)

So I notice if I unplug the power wire from the laptop the green light comes back on..plug it in..proof light goes out.

Guess it's a faulty charging cable. Buy a universal from Bestbuy..
Get a warning in Bios and at startup basically saying the cord will run the laptop but not charge the battery. Basically a "Use a Dell certified 65W charger" warning.

Return universal, go to Amazon and buy what come up if I type "Dell 5570 65W"..looks identical.

It arrives plug it in..BAM BACK IN BUSINESS!
Charging and all! No warning!

Day 2... A warning and no battery charging.

Day 3 and 4...some times it charges..some times it's a warning..

Gave me a warning all day, ran plugged in (sluggish to be honest) Then POOF decided it was legit and changed me to 100%
Few hours later...Not legit again, battery back down to 0% and I'm running only the cable with no charge and sluggish as fuck.

I dont get it.
Not a legit cable? I dont think so.
Bad battery? Maybe?
Faulty charging pins in laptop? I hope not..guessing that shit ain't cheap!

Anyone with some insight into this nonsense?

I have a Dell laptop and have had power cord issues too.

I sometimes get a warning saying it's a wrong battery, but it still charges and works. And then some reason the message disappears. As long as things work, I wouldn't worry.

I remember googling it and it might not have anything to do with the battery or cord, but can be a motherboard problem.

I've also flashed a new BIOS, and that made no difference.

You can take the battery into one of those battery places. Interstate Battery, Batteries Plus+ and they can test the actual battery and confirm if thats the issue.
