HENKaku -- Vita Homebrew and more comes to all 3.60 Vitas

So, I've got a Vita TV and a normal portable Vita, both on 3.60 currently having used Henkaku previously on them.

I'm contemplating upgrading one of them off 3.60 so I can play newer games, since it seems like not much effort is being put into making them playable.

If I did this, I've a few questions.

1) If I use the same memory card in both, when I upgrade one is it going to block me out of deleting the file firmware version file on Henkaku? To explain further, I know with Henkaku you can go into the file system and get rid of the file that the OS writes to the memory card which basically prevents it from being used on a lower firmware version. However, Last time I had my devices on different versions, on the Vita TV it just instantly popped up saying I couldn't use the card, and if that's the case I probably wouldn't be able to get through to the browser to run Henkaku, and then get into the file system to delete the file.
2) If I did use different memory cards because of the above, would I still be able to transfer saves between the two devices?

It's a shame I have to upgrade one of them to play new releases really, as being able to use a micro sd card in both would be pretty sweet. :( One will have to do.

I installed my MicroSD card and the Vita has recognised it, but all my bubbles have gone. I can't access VitaShell or anything, and since I have Enso installed I can't re-install Henkaku via the browser. Any advice?

Did you copy everything over from the old card to the new card? If you did, you may need to rebuild the database.

Did you setup the new card as ux0? If you set it up as uma0, you will not see any of your games/bubbles. Adrenaline is the only big program that can access uma0. The vita will not read your games/bubbles directly from uma0.

Do one of the normal HENKaku methods (browser, I suppose), then press R right as it starts to re-install MolecularShell, then VitaShell from that. It won't remove Enso or anything, and that's what I did it to get it to allow file transfer again.

henkaku settings > unlink memory card > restart vita

also, if you set it up as ux0, make sure you put the plugin in ur0:tai AND deleted the config.txt in ux0:tai

This is the guide I followed:

1. Start your Vita and boot Henkaku. Then open up Vitashell and connect over FTP to it (Only FTP works since you need access to ur0).
2. Now we want to copy the mount plugin to your Vita and edit the config.txt to load the new plugin.
3. Copy the plugin to ur0:tai. Then go back to ux0:tai and open the config.txt. Add a line that says ”ur0:tai/gamesd.skprx" without the quotation marks under #KERNEL. After that copy the config.txt to ur0:tai and delete it from ux0:tai.
4. Reboot.

Eventually after rebooting a few times I've managed to re-install Henkaku and gain access to molecularShell which is a relief, but I thought I'd be able to use the new card alongside my Sony memory card? I didn't copy anything from the Sony card to the new which is looking like a big mistake right now. Appreciate the help btw :)

Follow this guide if you didn't already: http://wololo.net/2017/07/20/setting-sd2vita-adapter-formatting-microsd-can-done-windows/

There are two different plugins. One of them makes the sd card into uma0 while keeping the official card as ux0, while the other plugin makes the sd card into ux0 while keeping the official card as uma0. Make sure you are using the one you want. If you want the sd card to be the new internal storage, you have to use the plugin that sets it to ux0, and copy all of the contents from your official card over to the sd.

Ok thanks, that's really helpful. I had a mini heart attack when I put the adapter in because all the bubbles were gone and when I tried to re-install Henkaku it said I was on firmware 3.65 (I forgot I had spoofing enabled :p) so I was panicking big time over that. I haven't copied anything from the official memory card to the new one, but all I had were some of my back-ups so that's not really a big loss since I can just do the whole thing again.

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo
I'm trying to install Adrenaline with my Vita being on HENkaku Enso. How do I do this with my Vita being unactivated?

I used MLT Activator to try to activate my Vita offline but when it tells me to launch the trophy app once it restarts...I DO that but nothing happens..is something supposed to load on its own or what?

I have a 4GB card with Retroarch and Vitashell installed, SD2Vita, and a 64GB MicroSD card (for now, may upgrade later). What's the best way to set this up? I have Enso on the Vita already, if that helps. Whatever would make things the easiest is how I'd like to go about doing this.

I followed this guide and it worked perfectly: http://wololo.net/2017/07/20/setting-sd2vita-adapter-formatting-microsd-can-done-windows/

I actually made the same mistake of looking at the firmware and thinking it had somehow updated on me

Got my SD2Vita (v1) in the mail today. Installed everything easy peasy. Now I'm using a 32GB microSD card exclusively for PSP and PSX games. Happy days :)

I have a SD2Vita v2 on the way from AliExpress, but that's going to take a while to get here. Might as well use the older version in the meantime.

What is the difference in the version?

Hey HenakuGAF, can anyone confirm if I'm able to activate a Vita on firmware under 3.60? I recently sold my 3.65 Vita to get on the Henkaku train and I'm seeing that it's not possible to activate the system on 3.60 anymore. So I ended up getting a Vita on 3.51 on ebay that should be arriving soon. But will I be able to activate the Vita and then manually go to 3.60 to install Henkaku?

Dont know about Henkaku, but with 3.51 you can exploit with Ape Quest, I think and then install VHBL and Ark-2. The latter is a Psp emulator wich lets you play all kinds of Psp homebrews and emulators (so Snes, Gba and stuff), Psp Isos and I think also PsOne games.

Thanks..this sounds cool and all but I really want to take advantage of the features of Henkaku and Adrenaline specifically. I wonder if I can do the PS3 activation for my 3.51 Vita..if anyone can confirm though that would be awesome.

I got the adapter working but adrenaline just gives me error (C1-2858-3) after briefly showing the minis logo

Move the adrenaline skprx and suprx to ur0, change the config.txt accordingly, and make sure you deleted the config.txt from ux0. For some reason adrenaline doesn't work with the plugins located on the micro sd

There is a way to update to 3.60 then use a a guide to activate it offline.
What I recommend though is using the guide to update to 3.60 safely using the DNS then waiting because adrenaline developer said he will make a vpk version soon that does not require activation so you don't need to do that,

Awesome thanks!

From what I understand the activation only affects adrenaline anyway yes? So it sounds like I'd be good to go with henkaku on 3.60 and then once they release that vpk for adrenaline I won't even have to worry about the activation.

Does the new 2.0 sd2vita adapters use/work with the springs in the carriage slots or is it like 1.0 where you gonna avoid them?

They do work with the spring but it's still a half-measure without proper casing. If you've waited this long I'd recommend waiting for something with the full form factor, which seems to be well on the way to production. If you were willing to buy without you may as well grab one for the added convenience though.

So apparently the vpk activation has no current release date, and the Flow said he'll start working on it in Septmeber...so who knows when that will release.

Does anyone know if it's possible to activate on FW less than 3.60?

Are you sure? How could it be improved with proper casing? 2.0 looks to be functionally the same as having a gamecard shaped case. Am I mistaken?

For the purpose of the spring ejection you're correct, that will function the same as a card.
The casing means there's no chance of the angle being wrong or the PCB catching and scratching and if the casing is of decent enough quality will significantly reduce the chance of the PCB being damaged by accidental force.

Hi guys, I recently rebought a vita, been running henkaku and have been playing around with arcade emulation....

But, I have a bunch of psp games that i want to rip and emulate so I wont have to mess with my actual psp anymore.

I see lots of guides but they are all kinda old....whats the best way to go about this?

I know how to rip them using my psp, but what psp emulator works best and how to install it is what im noy sure of.

Any help is appreciated.

Or should i just give up and keep a bag full of umds laying around?

adrenaline,it basically transform your Vita into PSP,it's really good, however you need at least one PSP game activated on the Vita, and now it's impossible to download anything from PS store, even fake PSP game installer won't work.
There is a method to activate a PSP games but requires a file from another user, but you must not try to sign in after you use it because it could ban you (if you can sign in).

https://github.com/ONElua/AppManager-Plus/releases

You can now move games and homebrew apps from ux0: (official memory card) to uma0: (SD2Vita memory card) and ur0: (internal storage). I've tried with Spelunky, but it doesn't work after it's moved. The game asks me to redownload it from the PSN. I suppose the game files are being moved, but the database is still pointing to the original location of the game.

Once that issue is solved, this application has tons of potential! You will be able to use both SD cards and official memory cards at the same time and basically treat them as one storage "pool".

Is there still a folder with files in, in the of original location ?
Does it work if you move it back ? (Will help determine if it's corrupting / missing files or a failed database update)

I honestly didn't check with the file browser what is moved and what is left. I assume that all the files are moved, either to a new folder or with the original folder of the game.

But when you move it back to ur0:, the game works just fine as it used to.

People on Ebay and Ali Express are selling the new version of SD2Vita.

I just got one of these & put in in my Vita, but now it won't come out - is it stuck?
Would I be able to get it out by opening up the Vita?

Edit: Never mind, got it out with tweezers...
