I also will play this way, even though I already played MGS3 hundreds of times.
This is at least for the first playthrough.
- turn the difficulty at least to the Hard
- try to be a ghost as much as possible, use tools and weapons, as well as interrogation only when you ABSOLUTELY need it
- don't, I repeat DON'T kill any character in a wheelchair!!! You will thank me later.
- just because you can change uniforms, and face paint, doesn't mean you should do it all the time; in fact, it becomes even more fun when your Camo Index is lower, and enemies are more likely to spot you
- during a certain boss fight don't use thermal goggles, and map to find your opponent, but rather try to rely on your own eyes, while at the same time being careful not to let him see you
- use tranquilizer gun, and CQC as your primary weapons
- even though Metal Gear series gives you a higher rank when you finish the games as fast as possible, at least during the first playthrough, just go at your own pace
