Here's some cheap game impressions

I'm in the habit of picking up cheap games despite mediocre reviews. I recently picked up 3 I've had my eye on to finally drop to the magic 20$ price point:

Spyfiction - MGS knock off with more gadgets like spider claws and suchlike. Suprisngly clean graphics and textures for a PS2 game. Gameplay twist is taking pictures of guards and enemies and being able to disguise yourself. Aiming is terrible.

Headhunter Redemption - Xbox version. Graphics are decent although it has that vaseline on the lens look. Aiming and camera are also iffy. Gameplay is run around stealthlike and shoot things, pretty typical.

Smash Court Tennis 2 - I like this game. Best tennis game this year. I like how in career mode you don't have to play a whole friggin match they toss you into scenarios like 'rally from deuce' or 'pressure them with some serves'. Lots of real tennis pro's are present and accounted for.

Not bad but I'm sure glad I didn't get them for 39.99.

My $20 grabs in the past couple weeks: MGS3, Otogi 2, Blood Will Tell, Crimson Tears.

Of all things, I played Crimson Tears first--specifically because i don't take it seriously and just screw around with it--and it is fun enough as a cheap game, searching out weapons and registering new combos.

OTOH, I want to set aside a large slot of uninterrupted gaming time for full immersion into Otogi 2 and MGS3.

Those are awesome 20$ pick ups. I picked up all of those for near full price (I think at the typical Fry's release price - 5 or 10$ less)

I like Crimson Tears especially the matrix-esque supermoves.

Recently picked up Astroboy and MGS3 for $20 a piece (both ps2)

I wrote up some mgs3 impressions in the offical thread - in short, the game kicks mucho ass. Astroboy on the other hand, IS mucho ass. It's a bit too kiddie and shallow, was hoping I'd enjoy it more since I'm a fan of the lil guy, but I was wrong. Oh boy was I wrong.

EDIT: Where can I find crimson tears for $20?

Gamestop had it online at $19.99 but that sold out. I got the last one at my local Gamestop. They didn't even know they had it, much less ever heard of it. "Is that a recent one?" :lol

I seriously recommend checking out Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space for all of you anime/mecha fans, it's only $19.99 at Fry's now, and it's easily the best Gundam game I've ever played, even better than Capcom's Mobile Suit Gundam Federation Vs. Zeon.

Also, Astro Boy: Omega Factor for the GBA is $19.99 at Fry's.

I recently read about some Gundam game that came out in the mold of Diablo I think in one of the recent EGM's. Basically you fight through dungeons, snagging loot and new equipment for your defender of the universe. Problem is that it was supposedly kinda shallow and it takes place in the :ugh: SD universe.

What Gundam game is that?

Anyone have any impressions of Army Men RTS for GameCube? 15 bucks new and Pandemic developed it as far as I know. That should make it the only Army Men game worth checking out...plus I hear it's a spoof of Apocalypse Now (imagine that one).
