You obviously know nothing about the Aluna development cycle! Nothing will beat the original skin, Except Paula Garces herself.Ultimoo said:I wanted Aluna.
Ultimoo said:wait when did HoN get a coaching system? I want to try it out!

Sorry to go off topic but actually it's not, and I don't remember you being a beta tester for the 3+ years I have, so where are you able to form an opinion like that?
In DotA 2 you have people that have never even played a game of DotA or a DotA clone.
That being said, I'm more aggravated by the leaving/ragequitting.
Meeru said:Leaving stuffs.
Technically, he didn't criticize him for leaving, he criticized him for complaining about leavers.Procarbine said:Did part of your soul die for criticizing someone else for leaving?

funny you talk about keeping noobs separate when you stat reset every time you get close to a bracket with decent playersMeeru said:This is something i've put a lot of thought in, during the years in dota and hon. There are two major differences with Ice working toghether with valve that weren't possible before. On steam, it's actually possible to Reward good behaviour, by unlocking customs skins or the honor of playing against a pro team, your name in the map etc. In d1 we can give contributors rewards for posting guides, movies, fan arts etc. Sure but not every member can read them or takes the time to learn from these. Or even knows of their exsistence. Steam allows for a greater public in general. But by using the source engine it also allows to keep track of how kind an nurturing players are INGAME. This allows for a reward system for those in the game, while the othes are only possible for those outside of the game. Sure we are all familair with reporting bad behaviour leavers etc. But it's useally better to reward good behaviour than punishing bad behaviour. It's how our brains work.
In basketball all Pro-Players are forced to be Present at Every training, and are forced to were their suits at every convention. Since they are payed to play but also to be Role Models. Well not every pro player can have the same attitude and strong spirit as for instance Drayrich has. But there could be an option for them to be better role models, I've seen pro players flame ragequit etc. I know most have done it and they are just humans as well, but heck if normal sports can force their pro's to do it it's definantly worth a shot trying to accomplish this for an E-Sport.
The coaching system will be a Great thing to tutor new player and newerplayer by more experienced players. And it would be an ideal idea to reward them for doing so. This is a positive approach and therefore i'm positive it will work. Also by coaching others you'll be learning a lot more of the actual game by going over things again and again and you'll be reminded of various somewhat trivial things in the firstplace but you'll never know when it saves you from a gank during you next game. You'll improve by helping others to improved their games.
Why reporting shouldn't be made to easely accesable in my opinion, if it's to easy to report people there's a major workflow for moderators or valve staff to get to do. And in most cases things are to trivial anyway. So by requiring a little bit more effort to report some one you'll have natural selection by the lazyness of people that don't really find it the trouble to report but just want to vent their rage at the less skilled, or lucky players during a game.
Matchmaking might help to get better players seperated from less skilled players and newbs, but by just win or lose it's not really gonna work. If your match-up granted your team 5 skilled suppots, and the enemy has a single skilled support and carry + 3 noobs... there's a pretty fine chance that the 5 skilled supports will lose. And having 5 skilled carries will leave your team with a crappy shot at winning if a forfeit option will be introduced. So it shouldn't just go for stats imho. Also some people have more time to play while others have a highe natural intelligence, or even tactical insight and understanding of a game. This might not directly be seen by their so called stats. Also having stats will definantly lead to more elitism.... Let's take rgc for example a 1300 rating will most likely be a either a newbie player o one with terrible manners. But a guy with a 2500 rating might've just stacked his way up there and be of equal skill to the 1300 rated guy. Sure in most cases it's not possible to get a 1300 rating by just being unlucky... and perhaps 2500 rating might not be possible. But there's always the possibility. So i really wonder how the algoritm for matchmaking is working to be honest.
But keeping newbs away from elitist is one of the most important things to keep getting fresh influx without scaring them away to rapidly on the other hand.... I've yet to think a perfect system.... but i don't think it exists to be honest.
