Really wish quests were to win games. So tired of people just giving up after the smallest shit.

Seems like I have to give a pep talk every freaking game.

They still have to finish a game for the quests to complete, and anyone that goes AFK or anything risks a ban. Blizz is about to do a ban wave.

as long as they improve the AI system and avoid any major penalties for leaving every once in a while (I really feel like the current system has potential) then I have even more hope.

Not sure what you mean by this statement... you want to encourage human players to leave games??

I wouldn't want to encourage players to leave... but there should be a way to switch out to AI and back in in non-ranked mode.

Think Left 4 Dead, where if something comes up instead of leaving your body "dead", the AI takes over till you get back. Run too long as AFK and the game automatically kicks you... Keeps you from being worthless during AFK.

Just had an Abathur that was all bragging about how he knew a special trick. That special trick was to spawn a mine in the enemy town and burrow to it and then drop 3 locusts.

That wasn't special at all.. Especially since he chose locusts with not as much health and they died in 1 hit and he got caught on his first try and killed as he couldn't hearth back :\

I asked if he could just stand in a bush mid-way on the map as his individual locusts werent making it and we pushed heavily in (the ones that spawn every 10-15 secs). He said 'No. He doesn't care if those don't make it'

Ugh.

Abathur can be a really good lane pusher but some people. SOME PEOPLE...

I have come to the conclusion after 12 games.... I suck with Kerrigan.

Don't know what the hell it is but its like I will have 1 great game with her followed by 3-4 mediocre ones.

Just gotta get her combo down and have the right build. Then she becomes one of the hardest to kill in the game.

Anyone wanna lend me their heroes alpha account? ^.^

But on a serious note, I hope open beta is soon. I could deal with waiting till July.

We haven't even hit closed beta yet. Open should be a ways off still.

We haven't heard word if there will be a closed beta or not I don't think. At this point bliz may go either way... but we've probably got quite a few more hero introductions before beta (I think they wanted to hit 40 heroes before beta)

I'm too lazy to open the game and count right now... how many currently?

Yeah it'll be a while before this goes into beta. There's still a good amount of stuff needed to be put in before that happens.

According to Wikipedia, League has 118 and 107 in DotA 2. In other words, Blizz has a long way to go to catch up... but damn if they don't have plenty of characters to work with.

ok thx

Yeah they have some cool characters to draw from I think. What about some like Alexstrasza? She might be cool.

Honestly I'm more excited about the Diablo and Starcraft characters they could use.

Ugh hurry up and do another invite wave already, Blizz!

What Koji said is one way of going about it. But the biggest thing they've done that I agree with is the fact that there currently isn't a penalty for leaving the game, but rather there's an incentive to stay in and keep playing in the form XP and quest credit. It's another thing that keeps the game low stress. If they can do something for AFK (like say, have a button to go into AFK mode or automatically get put into that if you don't move for 30 seconds, and any XP your team earns during AFK mode isn't given to you when the match ends) then I think we'll have a pretty good system in place. For ranked games, I'd probably add a small extra penalty by having games you leave affect your MMR to some degree. Like if there's a rank point system similar to SC2's you'd lose some of your bonus pool for leaving prematurely.

Another rare one!

Tychus with no deaths, a good amount of takedowns and most coins!

He's so squishy :P

Loading can take forever in the game. I wish we could choose our heroes after we loaded.

I am astonished so many people don't use well.

The actual loading part of loading doesn't usually take long (it's the first half or so of the load bar). The part that takes forever is everyone loaded and connected. If someone disconnects/crashes/closes the game during load, then you have to wait I think 3-4 minutes for them to "time out" before the match starts.

What Koji said -- the loading bar is not just for your own computer. It's for all the other players as well, they just don't make that apparent.

Yeesh.. Brightwing is really hard to kill. Playing him though unfortunately doesnt lead to much DPS output. He pairs well with WD and Arthas for CC's though especially after you get his Polymorph slow talent.

Ok got it.

But my follow-up question to you is -- Why would you *not* want a penalty for leavers??

Which specific ones you thinking of?

Well, I really want Mephisto and Baal and the D2 character classes to show up. Thankfully we already have hints that Meph and Baal will show up.

But I also really like the idea of them going back to Diablo 1 and 2 and making heroes out of old characters/NPCs/bosses. There are more obvious ones like Andariel, Duriel, Cain, Adria, and Izual. (The latter three also show up in Diablo 3). But if they were willing to actually use characters that only people really familiar with the series would immediately recognize, they could do NPC people like Griswold, Wirt, and Gheed, or enemies like Archbishop Lazarus, Rakanishu, Shenk, and Nihlathak.

Starcraft is also fun to think about. Fenix, Raszagal, Artanis, Duran, Stukov, Mengsk, hell find a way to make the Zerg Cerebrates work then give me Daggoth. Plus all the units they could simply turn into heroes. (I'm still upset that the Siege Tank hero is some random made up character and not Edmund Duke though.)

This is all just me spitballing ideas off the top of my head, but it's just fun to think of all the possibilities.

Sounds like we may be getting a new character tomorrow with a new patch!

Dammit... would be after I just spent all of my gold on a couple characters (Tychus and Malfurion)

(edit) Hero week sounds like it'll be more than one which is good. Though I am glad to see Murky... he's been my companion in WoW for a long time in all of his various guises.

I'm in the same boat gold wise. I spent 10k on Brightwing last week and planned to make it back through level ups, but then I was out all weekend and didn't get a single level.

I hope the new Zerg champ isn't a 10k hero. I mean, sure I'd love it if it confirmed Zerg was the best race in both games called 'HotS', but I don't want to have to wait to play her.

And again, I remember why I dislike this payment model.

Wait, isn't murkablo already in the game?

That is neither murkablo (which is Murky in a diablo costume) or Lurkablo (which is Diablo in a murky costume).

It's just plain Murky the Murloc. He was originally given out as a pet during one of the first couple years of WoW's existence during Blizzcon... and every Blizzcon since he's been given out in a different costume.

Kinda lame that skins can only be bought with, assumedly, real money.

Also, anyone else have artifacting problems with the Undead Mines level? Not in the mines itself, but there's parts of the main map where it just FREAKS. It's not unplayable, but it's incredibly annoying, and it's only on that one level.

That's pretty much how most F2P games are, regarding cosmetic costumes.

No major artifacts for me on that level.

I've been enjoying my time in it so far, though I've yet to find a hero im decent with. Ive bought Arthus, Tyrael, and played a fair bit of tassadar while he was free this past week. Which heroes are you all enjoying the most so far?

Muradin is a lot of fun especially with a Li Li around. No heavy hits but a lot of slows and a lot of regen. Just wish storm bolt was targeted instead of hitting the first thing in a row.

I enjoy Raynor, hes beefy and has a lot of single target DPS and great pushing with Hyperion.

I'm also a big fan of Tychus. I like him because he is hard to use and super squishy.

Demon Hunter is also fun.

As for tanks, I really enjoy Diablo. His health is pretty nutso and can wreak a lot of havok in a team fight. Muradin is fun but he is a bit under tuned at the moment.

The three strongest chars in my opinion are Tassadar, Kerrigan and Raynor at the moment.

Maybe try concentrating on Arthus?

I've been playing around because I don't want it to get stale and to be honest I'm not the best at games like this though I do enjoy them. Though, I do like him a lot I need to read up on all his talents since I don't think i've played him since I unlocked the hero talents. (i'm only level 11 or so).

Side question, Least favorite map? I hate the ship map. Seems like once you're behind it's too hard to come back from to me.
