I was pleasantly surprised.
I went to go see this movie with some friends, expecting your average torrent of sneek-up-on-you shockers (e.g. "The Grudge"). But along with the creepy moments came an actual appeal to emotion...after certain events take place that make you appreciate and respect the characters; you begin to actually feel for them.
I'd recommend it.
