Hokuto no Ken (arcade) pics

Why does this remind me of the Ibuki 2I stage ?

And this about the Gill 3S one ?

Looking good :)

It's pretty depressing thinking about how long it will take this game to hit home consoles. The animation in that video was pretty good except for the cape Raoh was wearing. That thing must've had 2 frames for flapping in the wind lol.

Uh - no.

FotNS is Japan's greatest contribution to literature EVER! Clearly no amount of virgins, chickens, goats, or small children is enough to sacrifice in order to have it's greatness realized.

I blame Arc Systems. Simple as that.

Still, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Especially if this plays really nice.

Uh - yes.

Kenshiro shouldn't be bouncing around all rubbery like the SF3 cast. SF3 is too fluid and at times, too cartoony for the style of FotNS.

This looks like it could use a few frames here and there (as already stated, Raoh's cape). Animation closer to Capcom's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure would be a better fit than SF3 style, IMHO. It's closer to the animation used in the FotNS movie.

Hopefully they'll have a version of Raoh on the Black King as a boss so I can get a little revenge action with Rei going.

Making an argument against nice animation is more Finest GAF Logic™!

Sure you can't wrap your tiny brain around Kenshiroh animating nicely, and by nicely I don't mean grossly over animated like a Don Bluth or Capcom Marvel game; but that doesn't make a case against other characters in the cast that would benefit from such gross over animation. Namely Heart.

Considering Arc System Works is one of the few developers still wasting resources on new 2D arcade / console games, they should also be held accountable for raising the bar for quality with each new game. High resolution sprites doesn't cover up for stiff animation.

I just hope FotNS doesn't have the glaring disparity in animation quality character to character found in the Guilty Gear games.

At the very least Capcom kept the look of the characters consistent from game to game. With the exception of Cammy in SSF2 who's bouncing breasts really looked out of place against the other characters. :P

From the movie i saw, it looks like Guilty Gear...with Fist of the North Star characters. Yay.

Thouther looks like a reject from He-Man: Masters of the Universe.

This looks about as good as the Fist of the North Star fighter I have for GAMEBOY!!

Just kidding, the game looks amazing. I hope all the characters can punch and kick, unlike the gameboy one :lol

So I guess poor reading comprehension is also more Finest GAF Logic™.

My argument is against SF3 style animation, not good animation in general. I believe the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighter has nice animation, and the style is much more fitting to the HnK universe. And I've already said it could use more frames, so you're pretty much arguing with yourself on that one. I've rather have the game look like the existing works rather than a bastard child of something else. But again, this is my opinion, like it or not, don't start bitching me out. Some may want Heart to look like he's made out of liquid or whatever, but I want him to look like a big, solid mass like he did in the movie. That does not mean I want him to have 3 frames of animation.

Even though IGN's videos are so poor in quality I don't want to use it as a visual aide for judging the games animation, it does appear that the game, in it's current state does suffer from Arc's animation inconsistency as Heart animates horribly. So if you're going to pick something about, go with that.

And BTW, spelling Kenshiro's name with an "h" doesn't make you more correct on anything or your opinon more valid. Gutsoon's own official translation spells it as "Kenshiro".

Already addressed in my previous post.

Sorry, old habits die hard. It's not intentional or Japan fellating wankery.

Although I can understand your frustration thanks to the legions of Berserk fans who insist on using GAT(T)SU. :X

Pity about Gutsoon. I wish they would have finished releasing FotNS here, but it seems any business Sega has a hand in is DOOMED! It wouldn't hurt as bad if they didn't put up a press release stating they were going to focus more on "live action" versions of their properties. >:(

The real pity is they got me hooked on Fist of the Blue Sky, City Hunter, Slam Dunk, and the false hope of finally getting to read Fist of the North Star's ending then took it all away :(

I never had any confidence in Slam Dunk being completely released here, this is certainly veering OT; but rather than start another thread that will sink I'll just blurt it out here.

Gutsoon / Raijin failed because they didn't make any attempt to get into Borders and Barnes & Noble stores where the majority of manga is sold. They stuck to the Tights Club of direct distribution and most comic shops can't afford to order the massive quantities of manga being offered each month, so they went out in a bad way. >:(

I just wish someone would get the whole fucking series out in English once and for all.

The game looks impressive, but I don't really like the series, so it doesn't appeal to me much.

How is FotBS anyway?

It didn't piss me off, but seeing as how FotNS has been left hanging in the US twice now; it was clearly effort distracted from getting the original material out there. Call me a completist weirdo, or whatever; but I was not willing to start on a prequel to FotNS when I didn't even have the entirety of FotNS itself.

That just kind of stunk.

Taken on it's own, it was a bit like FotNS sans the post apocalyptic setting.

We're getting a little off topic, but I really enjoyed it. It wasn't FotNS though, the two Kenshiro's were very different and the Blue Sky Kenshiro didn't have the same emotional attachment that's felt with the North Star Kenshiro. The whole mobster thing was a nice twist to it and overall it was a fun read. It was stopped just when things were getting rolling though, so that's kind of a pisser.
