i just picked up burnout revenge, and while i was expecting a >slight< graphical update in the visuals, its fucking AMAZING (to me anyway) i have the xbox version, does the ps2 one look much different from it? if not, then thats an amazing feat by criterion as i think it boasts the best graphics in a racing game EVER although i am up for correction :D

anyway, my 2c and back to burnout

PS2 version has better sparks, better blur. Less AA.

Xbox Revenge: clearer and more solid detail from better mipmapping and texture filtering

PS2 Revenge: better looking cinematic effects from more intensive post-processing

You think Burnout: Revenge looks sick, you should check out the trailer of their new FPS, "Black." That's some mighty slick lookin' shit!

What is it about the PS2 that allows it to do some things better than the Xbox? I was under the impression that there was not anything that the PS2 could do that the Xbox couldn't.

Is it THAT better looking than Burnout3 ?? Can't see much difference really.

It feels like there's more complex geometry on the tracks(that's just a feeling I haven't compared), the crash mode tracks definitely feel thicker as well... if that makes any sense...

It's usually not so much about what the PS2 can do that the Xbox can't, it's that the engine was designed for the PS2 and then ported to the Xbox, much like most games this gen. However, Criterion is very good at the PS2. Also, the PS2 has one of it's sole advantages in particle effects over the Xbox.

Finally, they both look damn great. Xbox has some advantages, PS2 has less advantages. Get the one for the system you prefer. You'll find it's hard to get completely unbiased responses.

Yeah, PS2 has better post processing effects all around in this game. Blurs, glows, sparks, highlights on the road. Xbox version has better mipmapping, which is not very obvious during regular racing, but can be seen when the camera goes into replay mode. Both versions have prog. scan and 16:9
