Were their Holy Shit! moments in TGA? What were your two?

Yeah, like a few others have mentioned, Onimusha and VF6 were cool to see. To be honest, there were quite a lot of decent games shown, but nothing was really ‘Holy Shit!’ If ND had actually shown some proper gameplay, then I think I may have had a moment, but alas, not much was given away, other than the general gist of the game. Looks great though, and I hope more is shown soon.

I couldn’t watch the whole show due to UK time and working today, but it seems it was a solid show overall.

I think the only real ‘Holy Shit!’ Moment for me was seeing Bilbo baggins next to Troy Baker. That was awesome.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Okami

Onimusha

Both had me doing my O face

Okami Sequel with Kamiya at the helm was a MEGATON for me. Watched the whole thing with a straight face until that moment. Had me smiling like a kid :)

Witcher 4 because I was not actually expecting it to be a numbered entry. Ciri being the protag makes sense but I have to wonder how that's gonna translate into Witcher gameplay because of her innate powers.
Project Century because man. A new IP from RGG Studio and it's 1915 Japan? Sign me the fuck up. It looks great.

Bonus: The new Naughty Dog game made me go "holy shit!" but, you know, in recoil. Puke inducing character design, just my opinion.

Edit: How could I forget? Even though it was only a little sneak peek, I was filled with joy seeing Fumito Ueda's new game. I'm so ready for another masterpiece.

My moment was:

'Holy intergalatic shit.'

I guess the 'keep your expectations in check' is the only good advice to live.

The show was front loaded and the last hour or two was endless anime mobile game horseshit paid advertising, but overall... A lot of bangers.

Witcher 4 right out of the gate, that 2D Ninja Gaiden looks great, that new Yakuza team game, Virtua Fighter 6, Borderlands 4, Outer Worlds 2, Intergalactic... Way better than usual.

Three of those anime mobile game horseshits were contenders for the Community Voice award. There's a ton of people who play those, just like millions play nothing but Fortnite.

If nothing else, having those represented to get those fans watching the show might get some of the players to try out some of the other games that were shown off.

Didn't the board hate on new vegas when it was in development? And weren't obsidian denied of the critics bonus because the board wanted an 85 and they got an 84?

I LOVE New Vegas, but a contract is a contract, and they missed their number. I don't get my yearly 20% salary bonus if I miss my numbers by even a single digit. But I also get my bonus if I make my numbers by a single digit (Which I did this year, Yeah baby 50k bonus and taking my wife on a Asia cruise :) ). They sadly fell on the wrong side of the contract.

Onimusha was a surprise although I have no interest in it.

And as hyped as I am for intergalactic I wasn’t blown away by the trailer and was expecting it to show up soon.

Project Robot was probably the one I was most happy with and wasn’t expecting

Yeah but the trailers were boring nothing, even if you play those games what did you get out of these endless trailers for games that are already out? It was just advertising.

The closest holy shit moment was Onimusha but I'm kinda mixed on the trailer. It was just sooo dark. The game is most likely a day one.

edit: I didn't see the 2 part. I'd go with the Naughty Dog game. It is about time they showed something new.

Ueda's game and ND's new IP probably since they were the most unexpected. We already knew CDPR was working on the next Witcher. Onimusha and VF6 were nice surprises, but those are not huge IPs in 2024. Project Century also looks cool, but I don't think most people went Holy Shit went they saw that.

Nothing major will see the light of day in the next 4 years.

Getting excited for trailers of stuff that will release half a decade in the future is hard for me.

For me the new announcements were:
  1. New Onimusha
  2. Pixel art Ninja Gaiden
  3. ND new IP
  4. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's Virtua Fighter 6 and new IP
  5. Okami 2
  6. Fumito Ueda next game
  7. Witcher 4
  8. Elden Ring's Monster Hunter
  9. Helldivers 2 new enemy factions and vehicles update available now
  10. Turok is back
  11. The guy who helped thousands of people to find new jobs getting an award

definitely Ueda and Onimusha.

I know nobody will believe me and I have no receipts but I was scrolling through my PS games list yesterday and saw Okami on it and was like, "hmm, I bet they'll announce something". It was just a feeling I got when I saw the game on my list.

I don't play the games, but didn't they announce new content? Were they really any different than Warframe which got actual showtime for their content announcements?

I think the only game that had me excited was that new Naughty Dog game Intergalactic, that is until I saw the main character. After the initial shock, I realized this was a Neill Druckmann production so it quickly made sense.

If I had to choose a second game, it was probably Onimusha but then I saw the 2026 release date and my interest kind of dropped.

What I really want to see is a new Atlus game, Persona 6 or maybe a new Shin Megami game? Shin Megami Tensei IV remake would be pretty sweet.

A lot of cool moments but it's hard to say holy shit without much gameplay on sight.

A big name return without much to see is just surface level "holy shit".

But if i have to chose it's probably onimusha or w4 because i didn't expect neither.

Once again, everething the west had to show was a disapointment.
