I don't get it. There's been a few actors I didn't even know of, because they're range is just has been so good, I never put them together. When I was younger, Johnny Depp was one of those. I seen like 4-5 of his movies, but as a younger kid, I just watched the movie. And he was transparent as an actor, to where only the character was visible. Gary Oldman I've always felt the same way about. I just realized how damn good Philip Seymour Hoffman is meanwhile, and that he fits into the same category.
I mean, take a look at Twister, Big Lebowski, Almost Famous.. and now Capote, which just hit theaters. And I realized I've always loved his characters. It's almost bizarre how much range he has though. I can't believe it's the same guy. Sad that actors we see and immediately think back to their other movies(I'm looking at you Tom Cruise), will always get more attention than someone who is almost too good for his own sake. It's also incredibly rare for someone to do so much comedy, drama, and just plain good work. His swagger just changes for every role. Which is even more impressive looking at how much he works. He definitely deserves to be a leading role, and I'm glad he is in Capote. I hope it leads to a lot more success for him.
