Horizon: Forbidden West State of Play announced for May 27th

Game has limited debris too. Watch the robot elephant fight. Tons of crashing rocks and debris. All seems to disappear when it hits the ground.

Might be a PS4 thing limited scope and physics.

Lmao THIS homie.

Also the hair clips during the cutscenes. What a fucking disappointment of a game. Buying the game at 21$. Im about to go play some top notch “The Medium” or “cyberpunk”, actual next gen. LOL.

Insane that Guerrilla's crossgen still looks better than other people's next gen games 😳

Not all game engines are created equally, and it helps that the artistic direction is excellent, great work by GG.

Also, even though it clearly looks like it's still in development (honestly it had a few minor rough edges that they'll address) - it's still arguably one of the best looking games out there.

Plants and grass seem to have zero effect and physics when she walks on them.

These do kinda.

Yeah, it's using a little bit of effect for folliage interaction (which really only looks like anything when walking slowly, at a full run you never even really see it,) and then the big grasses have full impact systems to them (or they're just so tall that you see them better and more regularly as the camera sweeps over them.) These are "grass shader" elements so they can only go so far before the effect starts to fall apart (it's still a trick rather than "real grass",) but probably it could have been improved upon. Grass crush was an aspect that wasn't great in the first game, (they fixed it some for the PC port or Frozen Wilds I believe?,) this is better but not perfect.

The gameplay mechanics are what have me the most stoked.

Hope there are lot of Ghosts of Tsushima like encounters.. little villages with options to be more or less sneaky, use different techniques, etc. And that's exactly how they made it sound/look.

Why did they make this a stream and not a processed 4K video that they could "premiere"!? So they could run a 5 hour waiting room? That stream looked like trash.

The game will look great in the 4K video... but I would never let a YouTube STREAM be the first way someone saw my game. Idiotic decision.
the stream is so people dont pull a Road to PS5 and leak all the details by skipping ahead like they did with the tflops count.

this way everyone gets to have a shared experience like a live e3 press conference.

as for why this isnt in 4k. i believe its a youtube limitation. you will have to bring it up with Google because even MS has to abide by the same rules. the 4k version went live immediately after the stream ended. this is on youtube.

There is no denying that the gameplay shown followed a particular route to in order fit as much cool stuff into the 14 minutes as possible, which I can understand. I reckon open world games could benefit from more set pieces to keep the central story flowing, but I have no doubt the open world will allow lots of experimentation.

Loos pretty enought. I love details when it comes to beach, the nature around it is aways cativating(sand, crystaline look on the shallow water, trees, etc). Gameplay looks cool too, reminds me a bit of Ghost of Tsushimi(smoke bomb for instance).

This really stood out to me. It looks like a pre-rendered FMV but it ain't.
So that's her melee special attack or whatever.

Rewatching it, the HUD has yellow and purple bars and icons. Its not health or stamina etc.

Yellow = ranged special attack (each ranged weapon has a different attack, check the weapon wheel)
Purple = melee special attack

Purple bar was depleted when she did that move, and seems to be refilled with kills.

There's now 6 weapon slots on the wheel instead of 4, which is good too.

I loved the first Horizon, this time it seem they kept the best parts (cool combat against superior machines with many weapons/tools, great design of the machines) and improved all of it, especially the animations/facial expression. It feel so lively and vibrant. I just hope for several biomes like the first one (snow, sand, ruins etc.).
Day one for me.

My guess is the release date is dependent on AAA third party and where Sony want to place the game relative to other big fall releases. Sony has been releasing their games earlier in the year for some time now so they don't interfere with other big AAA on their platform.

If the game comes out this year I'd bet September or October; highly doubt anything past that. Fingers crossed we get a fall 21' release date a few weeks after all the other publishers E3 announcements.

Damn right!:messenger_face_steam:

the one thing GG has always done is take all criticism seriously. I remember watching a KZ2 or maybe it was KZ3 behind the scenes and they went through every single review, compiled all the criticisms they had received and went about fixing them for the future titles.

Even the DLC for Horizon fixed several issues I had with the game. Namely the lackluster story missions and boring side quests. in just under six months they managed to take the criticism, and applied it to the DLC.

It's great to see them fix traversal and make melee more fun for the sequel. those were the two biggest complaints from everyone in the first game.
