How big is your gaming backlog?

Oh... it's BIG!

I bought Absolum, Two point Museum, and Metroid Prime Corruption, in the space of two days this week.
Pirate Yakuza, Bayonetta 3, and No more heroes 3 are still shrink wrapped.
Hundreds of games, across almost every format you could think of, languishing on their shelves, laughing at me.
Yet I continue to buy at a frightening pace.
I have to admit, I'm addicted more to the thrill of buying and collecting more than the playing of late.
I paused my session on Witcher 3 to write this.
My partner thinks I have Adhd like her, so I suppose that doesn't help.
I miss only having 6 Snes games when I was in my early teens lol

Mine is quality and depth over quantity. (I'm not a game snob so it's not by design or choice beyond those are just the games I buy.) I've started many games and even made progress in them, but stopped playing for various reasons. I doubt anyone is truly interested in the specific games but I'll have a few in mind to post if needed.

EDIT: Ok fuck it. This is not all of it but my Action backlog looks like:

Stellar Blade
Rise of the Ronin
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Ninja Gaiden 4
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Final Fantasy XVI
Assassin's Creed: Shadow
Space Marine 2
Black Myth: Wukong
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza

I've started some of these but didn't return. There's more that I have physical but not in front of me.

I have around 7,000 games in my collection and have played maybe half of them. I still have Genesis games in the shrinkwrap that I bought back in the day lol

Damn and I thought my library was big. A little over 2,000 on PlayStation, around 1900 on Xbox, a bit over 1300 on PC, and around 400 on Switch/2.

There is just too much I had to force myself to stop looking at Steam sales just so I can't go on buying on impulse. Its not helping that I spent a ridiculous amount of hours on one game.

  • Persona 3: Reload
  • Persona 5: Royal
  • Solasta
  • The Ascent
  • Unicorn Overlord
That's just for PS5 not including upcoming games I'm interested in. On PC it's even bigger. In essence:

Quite a lot berween Steam, GOG, Epic, and some on Ubisoft connect and EA, a few on Rockstar as well, but there just a collection now, most im never going to play

Not more than 15 games.

I believe in keeping it empty and use gamepass.

Paramount to enjoying games.

Be judgemental and delete games you don't like instead of trying to finish them.

Hundreds of games stretching back over 30 years. I could stop buying games today, do nothing but play games and will have enough for at least 10-15 years.

It's not a backlog, it's a Library!

Indeed! I like replaying games too, so even though I had a massive amount of games I've never played, there are many I know I'll be revisiting. After a long time they feel like new experiences again anyway. It's actually kind of freeing to know if I never bought another new game, I'd still be set for life.

I also have a shitton of indie games coming out this year that looks very promising:
  1. Mouse P.I
  2. Solasta 2 (most hyped)
  3. Mariachi Legend
  4. Slay the Spire 2
  5. Tankrat (the closest I'm going to get to another Battletanx game)
  6. Lost Hellden
  7. Liminal Point
  8. Bloodstained: Scarlet Engagement
Not including a good amount of 2026 AAA games from Asian devs:
  1. Tides of Annihilation
  2. Crimson Desert
  3. Beast of Reincarnation
  4. Phantom Blade Zero
  5. Onimusha
2026 is looking pretty good

Backlog as in games I bought but haven't played yet?
20-30 games, probably.
But to be fair, more than half of these were bought on sale while they were still in early access (in case I was very positive about the outcome of that EA) and I'm just waiting for actual release.

Backlog as in wishlist?
200-300.
But because I am not crazy, I don't treat that as a "I must play this" list, but more of a "subscribe to follow" list. Games that might be nice to play at some point.
Some games have been on that list for years and I might never actually play them. I do occasionally remove some.

Endless. It's not even a backlog at this point it's just how I play games. When something starts feeling repetitive I move to a different game and come back. Sometimes that's days, months, or years. It can take me forever to beat a game because I'm cycling through so many different games.

I should write down a list of games to play and in what order.

The answer, even without me knowing for sure what my backlog includes is

Very
Very
Very
Long

Very tiny. I never buy games to hoard them, always one at a time to completion. My actual backlog only started building after my fiancee moved in, so now its Mafia the old country, Dying Light: the best and Little Nightmares 3. Also wanna come back and platinum Space Marine 2 but the grind for kill count is insane

Let's just say that if I stop adding new games today and only play the ones I have on my backlog I will probably have to live until I'm 350 years old. At least is something to aim for in life.

edit: that includes replaying a lot of games
