How did Bush get away with the OBGYN quote??

I remember hearing something regarding this alluded to earlier in the year, but sadly it took me till a year-in-review clip to actually hear it as recorded live. I simply can't believe even someone as oratorically inept as him could say that out loud at a gathering of thousands of people!! "Practice their love with women"?? Has he been under the impression that every time his wife goes for a checkup that she gets the biz from Dr Cockworthy? Note to Senor Dubya..a speculum =/ a dildo!!

I mean I could understand when Shepherd Smith mixed up block party/curb job into "blow job", but I'm just trying to imagine what the original sequence of words were in the speech that lead to Bush's debacle. Either way, mixing up love, women, and OBGYN is cruising for disaster, and there is likely no professional speech writier on this planet who would dare tread that ground, which leads me to assume that W was being off-the-cuff, making the quote all the more suspect and despicable. I'm so shocked that I didn't see more of this during the year...seems like it would have been at least as big a deal as the "Dean Scream" or the "I voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it blah blah". I'm shocked that this man and Mr "Go Fuck Yourself" are the leaders of the executive branch of our country. Fucking crazy..

I mean, thats a whole new strain of foot-in-mouth disease right there. At least knuckleheads like Jesse Ventura and Ahnuld were somewhat deliberate in their verbal shennanigans, but Bush's slip just seems like some kind of subliminal perversion just shot to the surface without him even being aware of it. Far more disturbing IMO..

Most people think its amusing that he is such a moron and I guess it makes him seem more down to earth or something.

I chuckle every time I hear it, but I'm not sure how you would go about reporting such a thing. It would be an awkward piece to report on.

don't recall the quote. Would anyone have a link?

"We've got an issue in America. Too many good docs are getting out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country. See, I don't think you can be pro-doctor and pro-patient and pro-hospital and pro-trial lawyer at the same time."

There is a short clip here.

ok im stupid whats the deal with what he said?

practise love?

or how he said obgyn?

An obstetrician looks after a woman's pregnancy and labour. A gynecologist looks after a woman's private parts. Bush made the link between their care and sex - that their profession is concerned with "practising their love of women" i.e. sex. When you consider the details of a gynecologist's work, it's just really a disturbing thought.

This is one of his biggest screw ups:

"This disease leaves suffering and orphans and fear wherever it reaches. Every man and woman and child who suffers from this addiction, from the streets of Philly to the villages of Africa, is a child of God who deserves our love and our help."

He's talking about AIDS.

Eh, he confused addiction with affliction. At least they sound similar.

No, I find it disturbing the guy thinks God is directing his policy. Or at least said it to get the sheeple to vote for him.
