I just got back from the grocery store and while I was waiting in line, noticed that packs of cigarettes went for 5.20 a pack (!!) for most name brands. Holee shit man, I used to know people that would smoke a pack a day.

No wonder the grocery stores guard them like they are prescription drugs.

They waste a shit ton of money. You know how much money a person can waste on cigarettes? I imagine in this lifetime, it'll be well upwards of a couple hundred thousand. My brother is such a fucking moron.

i think cigarettes cost half that here.

:(

too many people fucking smoke here. I can't fucking stand it. yuck.

So what is cheaper weed or tobacco?

I spend anywhere between $25 to $55 on weed per week, depending on quality and whether or not I am at home or at school.

$25 an eight at school.

Good shit at $45 an eighth at home.

Is that enough to smoke everyday?

Holy crap tom .. ever sit down and think how much money you spend a year?

We all have one or two money holes in our lives. I also don't smoke a pack a day. Closer to one every three days.

i don't smoke and i think it sucks but i don't see the big deal price-wise. people drop that kinda cash on drinking every weekend.

This is why if they legalize weed and tax it to hell it'd be a far better "war against drugs" than what they're doing now. A lot of people just wouldn't be able to afford to smoke weed often.

Plus it'd make the government mad money to pay back some of that deficit.

The same way people buy 12-packs of beer, liquor, fast food, video games, prime cuts of meat, and any other unnecessary expense on a regular basis. You budget for it, and you get it until something else takes priority.

The amount of Tobacco you get in a pack of cigs would get you high for weeks if it were full of weed.

Marlboro has the patent on Marlboro Greens.:D

Exactly.

Price is no obstacle in the never ending quest to be cool.

Fucking ignorant.

the people who run the DEA are legally the official word on the matter. and to them, marijuana is about just as bad as meth or heroin. until there's some serious fundamental reform on how we look at drugs... meh

it'll happen but not in our lifetime

Yeah it will.

i hope so. but with a government that's batshit insane enough to burn zillions on keeping pot off the streets with little to no success, and all just to save face, i can't help but be pessimsitic on how the issue will play out 20, 30, 40 yrs from now

Legalizing weed solves so many problems that its ridicules that so many people are against it.

1. The ability to tax the shit out of it would give the government tons of money.
2. Stopping this bullshit war on drugs against MJ would would save the government tons of money.
3. Most of the incarceration in this country are weed related. Legalizing it would greatly alleviate our legal jail system.
4. It would stop a large illegal drug dealing group from profiting.

Considering how much less dangerous weed is than Alcohol, its a pretty stupid situation.

There is already and trend of decriminalization.

The government doesn't WANT to save tons of money though. It's just another link in the grand inflationary chain. :-/

Are you saying weed would be more expensive than it is now if corporations could grow and sell it legally? That can't be right unless the government imposes like a 300% tax on it. Anything that gets institutionalized and enters the free market will become cheaper.

Prescription drugs say otherwise.

Agreed, but its so easy to grow yourself in the convenience of your own home that most people probably wouldn't even buy it. The plant itself can live through alot of neglect and doesn't even need natural sunlight to grow. Thus being borderline pointless to tax. Maybe thats why its really illegal still.

Oh, and I live in Kentucky where it's only around 3$ a pack for name brands. I afford it quite easily.

Its good livin in San Diego with a medical marijuana card, I live 5 min from a despensary :D

so its kinda legal for me I guess..

Wow. In Kentucky, about 3 years ago when the tax was 5 cents, you could get a pack of cigs for 50 cents if you wanted it. Kools, my brand of choice if I buy smokes, is about 2 and a half bucks now they raised the tax (Still the lowest in the country)

I smoke a pack a day and i smoke more when im drinking, but cigarettes really cheap here .
The pack cost (Marlboro) 1.7$ so in a month i spend around 53$ on cigarettes.
