How do wireless controllers work in the event of multiple consoles?

For example, if you had two Xbox360s right next to each other, hooked up to two different TVs, running the same game at the same time, but you're only holding one controller, does that controller transmit to both of the consoles or does it get locked to one of the consoles depending on which one transmits to the controller first?

when you turn on a controller it finds and Xbox and 'tags' itself to it and sets which player it is. If there's one controller and two xboxes it'll jump on the first one it sees.

Hmm.. Interesting. I was thinking it would of been cool if you could control multiple consoles with one controller. So in the event of a game like Animal Crossing or Diablo II, you could have two copies of each character and every time a random event happened where you got a random item, you'd have two shots at it instead of one, then you just switch the best items to one character.

Although, it probably wouldn't work out as well as I think it would, because since everything would be random, you wouldn't nessesarily get an enemy in the same spot in both games. =/

Does anyone know the physical limitation of wireless controllers you have can have in the same vicinity?

There has to be some sort of limitation I would think.

are you actually gonna keep two 360's???

I'm not sure. It all depends on multiple factors. I've already got people lining up to buy it and I've even got people offering "interesting trades".

why would it depend on multiple factors?? why on earth would you need two???

I don't need two, but it would probably feel good having them. Having things in excess usually feels good, unless the things you have in excess are bad. =/

I thought I would sell the second one on eBay and get a decent TV to play the first one on, but with all the talk about how tv prices are dropping rapidly and how nanotubes are coming, I can't decide. Not to mention there aren't a lot of decent HDTVs in the $500 range. I'll be stuck playing it on my 19" monitor like I currently do with my GCN through an KDS switchbox.
