I'm thinking of picking up a PSP for my birthday. How well has the emu scene been since last year? Are most emus and running at full speed on the PSP?

Neo Geo CD emu is the best. You also have quite good Amiga, ST, Genesis/MD and SNES emus. All the info you'd want is in the stickied 'Official PSP Discussion thread'.

the emu scene is kinda dead. theres a lot of past emu's out but nothing apart from neo geo and i think wonderswan? have been updated. for a long long time.

Yeah its kinda dead.

Out of the emus I tried. The SNES, C=64, Genesis and Gameboy emus where the best.

However only the GB emu felt perfect. So I upraged to 2.6

Without a doubt, the Neogeo CD emulator is definitely the best and most impressive of the bunch. It's a shame the emu scene totally died off. I really miss those days when you'd see a new version like every other day. ;(

And if he gets a PSP now, wont it most likely have a firmware revision that doesn't allow emus?

If emu is your primary purpose for the PSP and won't miss playing the actual PSP games, might I suggest the GPX2?

I dont see why anyone is saying its dead. It just that alot of the emulators have reached as far as they can go. The Super Nintendo, Genesis, Nintendo, and the NeoCD emus are basically perfect. The only emue which is for from perfect is the GBA one and its still being worked on. Also there alot of home made games and such still being made. I think alot of focus now is being put into trying to get homebrew to run better on 2.0 or greater FW's.

The SNES and Genesis ones are far from perfect, they have lots of framerate issues and they don't run as smooth as the NeoCD one.

Agreed. I'm having a blast with the Neo Geo CD emu.
