How Game of Thrones Should Have Ended? (2 hour audio reading, fan fiction)

How does the ending play out in this version?

I always liked the idea of the Night King on the Iron Throne, Westeros defeated and mostly undead. Dany and Jon escape with their dragons and fly across the sea to start over/pick up the pieces.

Night King wins at Winterfell, kills almost all the troops.
Red woman raises an army of her followers and they meet at the trident to fight the night king.
Varis secretly paid off the Golden Company to fight for him instead and the meet up to face the Night King.
Jon kills the red witch and becomes Azor Ahai.
Bran possesses the dead dragon and bring it down, but it's a huge strain.
Jon kills Night King.
Jamie and Arya Stark are the advance group to stealthily break down defenses before invading King's Landing, since the dragons can't get close due to all the dozens of ballistas.
Arya takes faces of guards and assassinates 90% of the people manning the ballistas at night.
Everyone left invades King's Landing.
Jamie kills Cersei by choking her to death.
Dany has nothing left, and has lost interest in the throne and sees it for what it is. She "breaks the wheel" and they burn the throne. Now all the 7 kingdoms will be independent with no central ruler over them all.
Jon and Dany have twin children.
Bran retires to the God's Eye to live near the last major werewood tree since Winterfell is burned to the ground.
Bran sees the ice cracking in the far north at the very end, revealing that some white walkers that are even older and have slept in the deep ice are waking up.
The end.

How it should've ended:

All dead, only Bran survives, with his last bits of power he breaks his time sight and enters the distant past, he understands he must do what he can to preserve the Fire and, in doing so, before fading, he becomes the 3 Eyed Raven, alive only in the echoes of the wind and in the whispers of the trees. The disruption of time and Fire he caused creates Darkness, and from Darkness they come, the frozen, the undead. Yes indeed... oh no, wait.

I'd be generally cool with all of that except for the 2nd to last bit.

I'm fine with an ending leaving a few things ambiguous or unclear (with a few exceptions like how they defeat the villian AKA fuck you Matrix Revolutions), but that just sounds like a cheap "sequel hook" that probably wouldn't even be followed up on or if it did would probably not be that impressive. Take that part out, everything else sounds solid aside from seemingly no main or even fairly big supporting characters dying.

There's deaths, I did the super trimmed down summary. But yeah, I understand your other point.

The only ending that would have made sense is the white walkers wiping out everyone and the night king sitting on the throne,

Here is how I thought would've been the best ending:

I'm going to start at Season 7 episode 4 where they decided to go beyond the wall to capture a wight and scrap the whole thing. It was dumb and ruined everything henceforth.

Instead of worrying about the army of the dead, they assume(as they should have) that the wall will keep them out like it always has. Instead they plan to take ride south and take King's Landing. So they do just that, Jon and Dany and all the fighter houses ride south to take King's Landing. Bran and the rest of the family aside from Arya stay in Winterfell.

The northern army is winning easily with the dragons, it's clear this is a lost battle for the Lannisters. Cersei tries to blow up what remains of her own people to ruin King's Landing so Dany or Jon can't get the Iron Throne for themselves. Jaime stops her by strangling her, becomes the queen slayer now.

The northern army takes King's Landing, Jaime is pardoned for killing Cersei, allows him to do what he wants. He sticks around because of Brienne.

While figuring out what's what, they get a raven from the north. The dead have breached the wall and are coming. The letter doesn't go into detail, but Jon and Dany fly back north while a massive chunk of the armies follow behind to help defend Winterfell.

When they get there Bran explains the Night King's mark must have allowed him to breach the magic of the wall like it did at the tree way up north. They prepare for battle, but with not much time their defenses are weak, even with the dragons.

The Night King and his army win decisively. Jon finds himself one on one with the Night King. Jon gives him a good fight, but the Night King wins, while Jon is on the ground prone, Arya sneaks up and stabs him in the heart. Nothing happens. Dany swoops in to try and rescue them Jon and Arya escape while the Night King deal with and kill 2 of the dragons. .Dany loses 2 of the 3 dragons, only has Drogon left. Most of the main core story characters retreat south(some die) to figure out what to do next and what they need to do to kill the Night King.

During a summit somewhere south Bran recalls his vision from where the Night King was created. He remembers dragon glass being implanted in his chest and how he was a magical creation of the Children of the Forest. They decide to go back to the site where he was created to find clues on how to stop him before he engulfs all of Westeros in ice and darkness.

Bran searches his memory and figures out it's the God's Eye. They head there and figure out all the magic of the realm comes from the weirwood trees, as is hinted at by Bran touching one magnifies his abilities. They decide the only way to defeat the Night King is to destroy all magic in the realm, it will kill the Night King, but also leave everyone without any magic at all. They decide it's worth the sacrifice.

Jon starts to destroys all the trees at the God's Eye with the flaming sword (fill Azor Ahai prophecy) as the Night King and his army approach. As he destroy them the army of the dead start to die and crumble with it, along with the White Walkers. But the Night King arrives to face Jon before he can destroy the final weirwood tree. This time he bests the Night King in their final duel as he's weaker from most of the magic fading with the dead weirwood trees. He destroys the final tree and then the Night King kinda reverts back to this old raggedy looking human with a piece of florescent dragon glass in his chest. Jon rips it out and he evaporates into dust. The army of the dead is defeated, but because there is no more magic, Drogon dies.

Dany never forgives Jon and never supported the plan because it killed Drogon so she turns on Jon tries to have him killed, Jon has to execute Dany. Jon is named the King.

Any thoughts welcome. That's how I always wanted it to end.

i finished this today and was really impressed

great stuff, great poetic descriptions without being in your face

dis sum good shit

jon vs the night king was much better than the arya shit, great tension even though this part in writing is short (just because it is in writing, if it were realized on film it would be like the sandor clegane vs breanne but on steroids)

the arya infiltration of kings landing was very cool, this itself i could see being a full arya glorification episode, like a capstone of all her learned abilities

sandor smashes widfire on gregors head, holy FUCK and ends up burning hims alive inside his heavy armor WHAAAAAAAT, amazing

i found jamie killing cersei a bit unbelievable

the ending with jon and daenerys getting married and having babies was satisfying, and i enjoyed the descriptions of the farming and fishing and society coming together really nice

i didn't like that the wall was to be destroyed and the nights watch to be removed

i really liked the treatment of bran, they turn him into like the professor X of the natural world

Isn't there a part where Varis randomly gets killed by a white walker who chops his head off so hard it flies 100 yards? That visual stuck with me big time lol. Everything is usually so grounded and brutal in the show, then this white walker just launches a head. Love it lol.
