How Greed Destroyed Xbox

Probably one of the best recent examples summarizing in as concise a way as possible how Xbox lost its way, starting with the late 360 era and beyond.

Because why not have one more Xbox thread on here?

The problem is they quit competing with high quality games. It's like that leaked email about the meeting where they said they cant' compete with TLOU.
They're not doing what needs to happen to compete with high end games, so they're trying to do mediocre games to keep a subscription base sated.
Phil has to go cause he convinced himself making AAA bangers "won't move the needle" cause they lost the "worst generation to lose".

That's loser mentality. Nintendo never let you keep your digital library and they were always fine, cause they would just keep making system seller games.
All they need is consistent system seller games, and even their leader is telling them to not even bother trying.

If Microsoft had their way, Xbox Kinect would be a living room sensation and fitness games would be the yearly best sellers. Honestly, it's a wholesome timeline, it just didn't pan out. But Xbox has been smoked since the 360 planning phase. Just be happy we got the OG. The further we get away from it, the more I appreciate it as an absolutely amazing machine. King of the consoles? The Last Console. It was never sustainable in that form. Too pure. It was a machine made by competent people passionate about gaming and very good at their jobs. The 360 commodified it and flayed its soul for Xbox Live revenue and Turtle Beach headsets marketing crossovers.

See post #5 😎

As a former Xbox gamer for two decades, Microsoft had their chance and fumbled it so many times over.

At least everything is an Xbox now!
You're free to hate all you want. I'm just amazed your ears were able to tolerate that yapping for 40 minutes. I tapped out after 20 seconds but I had headphones.

I didn't watch the video and I'm not going to because the thumbnail looks stupid, but I think greed is more a symptom than the cause of Xbox's lowly state.

I've heard worse voices on YouTube. Any "hatred" is merely aimed at Microsoft / Satya Nadella, who is responsible for current day Xbox and Windows.

How does this guy yell and yell this fast for 40 minutes.

Plus it's all stuff we've seen before. Weird video.
I'm pretty sure it has cuts but edited well to sound like one continuous take. Watched it all, it was a funny summary of what has happened with xbox the last couple of years.

I was an early adopter of the Xbox "fat boy" and the xbox 360.

The Xbox had so much momentum in the 360 era, they became way to arrogant and it blew up in their face. The Xbone turned so many off and it got worse from there. They totally lost their way with the Series consoles. To add to that, they also became extremely woke and tone deaf to their core audience.

How? The cheapest deals as far as I know cause HH is dead, Steam crazy deals are gone, Sony with it's variable pricing, Nintendo with it's endless original price tag. They pretty much compete with Loaded.

The second half the xbox one life time felt like nothing but damage control, xbox games going multi-plat with pc, crossplay, BC, and of course buying every studio possible.

With the series it feels like they said fuck it and are focusing way less on overall sales and trying to make xbox a premium device (but ya know…without an actual reason to own one over a ps5 or pc, except for gAme PaSs)

Like say what you want ps5 only reverting the ps5 prices to launch prices for BF, but xbox didnt do shit.
I'd much rather buy a $450 physical ps5 over a $650 series x
