I am futher looking to get more DS games and I'm wondering how Polarium is, I've seen videos and it looks pretty fun.

I played the puzzle mode and loved it. Sadly, there are only 100 puzzles to complete. The versus mode is pretty cool too, but I never played with the other single player mode.

I wanna buy the game, but I'm hoping it hits $20 soon. $30 is a bit steep for a game with a pretty limited lifespan (100 puzzles won't take too long to finish).

Alright, but would've been better as a web game. Not much to do once you've completed the 100 puzzles in puzzle mode. The formula is just too simplistic.

I'm a huge supporter of Polarium, but if you can hold out a few weeks, I recommend getting Metoes (ships 6/27). But if you have the funds for both, by all means get both.

not to change the subject but since you brought it up and we are talking about puzzle games and all... anyone have any idea if metoes is going to be good? i've been looking forward to it but i don't even know why. i guess its hard not to get excited when a ds game comes out simply because its for the ds.

8x8 squares equals 64 squares, 2 options per square.

2^64 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 combinations

and that's just for the 8x8 boards, then you have 8x7, 7x7, 7x6.. etc.

I say you're likely to get fed up with the game, get insane, or grow old and die before you're done with all puzzles.

Well, maybe.. but there's plenty of replay value in polarium for as long as you think it's fun. And that was my point, it won't go the end on you just like that like you suggested in your initial reply.

There are indeed better games for DS, but I do get back to Polarium once in a while to play a few puzzles..

I got the game, and according to the timer, I've invested over 20 hours playing it. The game's definitely addicting if you're into brain teasers. It's just that once you solve all 100 puzzles, the only replay value left is trying to raise your high scores in Challenge mode.

the puzzles were amusing. The single player 'arcade' mode was also a lot of fun at first until you realize it's always the same...

like in say... tetris, or any other 'falling block game,' every time you play it the gameplay is the same but the way the game turned out is different. You clear a different number of lines in a different way, etc.

Polarium though... its just laways the same. Every 50 lines are so it switches to another pre-determined pattern of falling blocks. And once you realize the trick to each pattern you can't lose. And every time you play you are going to be solving those exact same patterns in the exact same 50 line blocks. The tedium evenetually got to me, not to mention the hand cramps.
