How is the Logitech MX 1000 mouse for gaming?

They claim 20x performance over an optical mouse but i havent tried it. User reviews seemed mixed. I was about to order MX 518 gaming grade mouse but its optical.
 
Welcome back Deg, haven't seen you in a while.

I have a plain ol' Logitech Cordless Click! Plus optical mouse and it seems fine for gaming.
 
No other mouse compares IMO. Especially wireless. Battery life is fantastic too. I dunno. I don't see how you could do better then the MX1000 honestly.

I'm not fucking kidding. I thought it was the stupidest thing I've ever seen, but after trying it out..... WOW.

The genius behind this mouse is that the optical sensor is quite a bit ahead of the twist point, which is the grip. Becuase of the way you hold it (like a pistol), a slight flick of the wrist will turn the camera around 180 degrees super fast! It's fucking AWESOME! My friend stopped using his MX1000 after he got this. No lie.
 
Tricky one. Does MX1000 really have corded performance? Its either Mx518 or Mx1000.

p.s.- Deg- yes it really does have corded performance. I can't tell the difference at all.
 
Not bad. Sounds like Mx 1000 is possibly the one. :)

Resolution is decrobed as 800 dpi for Mx1000 and 1600 for Mx518. Whats all that about? I need to be sure this is the main gaming mouse.

*shrug*

As an avid fps gamer, I can promise you will be very happy. If you notice the difference I'd be pretty impressed as the mx 1000 is spot on perfect.. I've never had a problem in the slightest. If anything though, buy it from a store that has both in stock. If you end up not liking the MX1000 return it for store credit and get the other. i don't see that happening though.. :)

I'm not 100% sure of this or anything really, but maybe it has to do with it being a laser vs. optical. Maybe a laser is just more precise and doesn't need such a high DPI. Again, I dunno. Check reviews.

I havent. I have owned a mouse that even has 3 buttons or scroller. I saw the light lately and decided to change that. :lol MX1000 looks hot. I should have ordered a keyboard and mx 1000 combo. I just received my new corded media keyboard but i dont care much really. Except the cordless ones look alot hotter :p
 
I have an MX700, and it's the best damn gaming mouse I've ever owned. I can only imagine the 1000 is even more impressive, what with its 3 extra 100s.
 
I had to make the same decision as you recently (between 518 and 1000) and I chose the MX1000 and can say I could not be ANY happier. I also bought the X-Ray Technology Aqua 3 mouse pad and some teflon tape for the feet and it floats like butter and is so smooth and precise.

I've been playing the shit outta it on BF2 and the FEAR beta and kickin ass with it.

One thing this REALLY has over the 518 also is the shape and contour... which is miles above the 510 and 518 (I am a former 510 owner which is identical shape to the 518). This MX1000 fits the hand so good and comfy.
 
I have read in a few places that the MX1000 has issues refocusing when you pick it up/put it down. So, if you're one of those who goes to the edge and then picks up the mouse to go back the middle you might look into that.
 
Thinking of ordering the mouse and keyboard combo. MX3100. Hefty price but it'll do. :)

Yeah that wories me but noone here has said anything. Some places say they improved this issue in future revisions. In some fps you may ending turning alot in one direction so you have to pick it up at one point.

Be aware that this fucker is heavy. If you do a lot of gaming or 3d graphics...your wrist will hurt!

I'm using a ball mouse and its heavier than most mouse so we'll see.
 
I am still using my Logitech Mouseman DUAL OPTICAL. Back in the day it was light years better than any other optical mouse.
 
I bought a MX518 recently. The only thing I've noticed is that is has a mode where by pressing a buttom, it seems the mouse sensitivity increases drastically(cursor moves about faster). I haven't tried this in an FPS yet. I usually just turn it off because it's difficult to control. =P

Makes it feel just as light as my old MX510

I can confirm that this is NOT true. At least, my MX1000 does not do that. Perhaps they get faulty ones.

This is my favorite mouse by far, and I own a Razor Diamondback.
 
I've also never had even one instance where my MX1000 had any kind of issue 'refocusing' when lifting it up while gaming, or anything.

so wait. when you aim up or down with tthe pistol, in game in does it too?
 
I don't like the MX1000 solely because it weighs like three times heavier than your average mouse.

Anyway, I'm currently using the MX510 on a func surface 1030. It's a wonderful combination. Very smooth and functional.
 
O.k, just bought the damn thing. So far so good.
Seems a little to sensitive though which i will get used to after a bit of usage.

The weight isn't a problem as it's easy to slide around and i dont tend to lift the mouse off my desk anyway.
Haven't played any games with it yet though.

9.5 out of 10.
 
go into your mouse propeties ad make adjustments there. make sure you turn off acceleration. and checkmark keep mouse speed in your games. etc etc.

I tried out that gun mouse last night. It fucking sucks. Don't waste your money. I don't know what brand of crack that kid above was smoking, but it must of been some good stuff.
