How long is Megaman compared to the others?

Seeing how it's the 2nd best Megaman, ya i'd say so.

OH ice man level, how i hate you.

And if you use that cheap ass golem lighting pause trick, you deserve to DIE.

Do you mean the original Megaman to 2 and 3? If so, it's definately worth playing, but it is a bit shorter since it only has 6 original guys compared to 8 in 2 and 3. I still love the original and it's definately worth playing if you like 2 and 3 though.

Mega Man 1 was probably my least favorite out of the NES games. It has some issues like collision detection and no passwords that bug the crap out of me.

I HATED ice man's level! Especially at the end with those stupid flying penguins that would knock you off and it was impossible to avoid.

Fortunately, the no password thing is no longer an issue with Mega Man Anniversary Collection. The game saves your progress--and not in the hacky way Sega did it in Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Gems Collection.

You know, I don't know why people complained about this boss. He was really easy once you saw the pattern. I remember that I could beat this boss with my eyes closed back when I was a kid. Can't do that now, but I can kick his ass without getting touched.

All the Megaman games for NES are worth playing. Sure Megaman 2 is the best, and sure they get cheesy into the 5th and 6th entry, but they are all pretty fun games. 1-3 are great, 4 is fine, 5-6 gives you that "Hey make a different fucking Tomb Raider" feeling, but back in the day I wasn't as picky.

Yeah, thank God.

Of course there's still the problem of dying by standing an inch away from spikes. Hah.

As far as the classic series goes: 2 > 3 > 5 > 8 > 7 > 4 > 6 > 1, not that any of them are bad.

While I'm at it: X2 > X > X3 > X4 > X8 > X5 > X6 >>>>>> X7.

Not all that hard, not very long but OMG it's a great game.

What he said. MM1 feels very distinct and fresh when compared to the rest of the series ... you can't go wrong with any NES-era MM game, but MM 1 - 3 are probably the best.

Mega Man 1 might last forever, because you'll never finish it.

Because it's fucking hard.

Besides Mega Man 6, I thought it was one of the easier Mega Man games on the NES. There's an intial surge in difficulty, but after half an hour or so, everything becomes quite easy. Quickman's level, for example, has a lot of one hit deaths. It's practically impossible to blow through it on your second, third, or fourth try. But by the fifth time you've tried it, the sequence those one-hit kill bars of light follow is easily remembered and negotiated as such. Nearly all the other levels have similar obstacles, initially offering a lot of difficulty until suddenly everything clicks and ... it becomes easy.

Just my experience, though.

Megaman 1 sucked because it was way too hard. Megaman 2 kicked ass because they made it so you could actually beat the game and the MUSIC IN THAT GAME RULES. Megaman 3 is okay because it's similar to 2 (but not as good music). And 4-6 suck cause they're all the same.

That's Mega Man 2.

I can go through Megaman without losing a life common.

In wich order do you guys go through the levels?
Where do you always die? The teleporting pieces guy?

Bomb->Guts->Cuts->Elec(can now get the platform thingy)->Ice->Fire

edit: Oh, and I tend to die once or twice while going through the Gauntlet trying to reach Wily

I love Mega Man 4 - 6 for various reasons even though they can't compare to the first three...

Mega Man 4 has Skull man, a really lame robot living in equally lame lair, but back in the day, I could never beat him. Because my skillz couldn't pay the billz, Skull Man's lame design, weapon, and level were transcended by his legendary status as a difficult boss to defeat. The music for his level kicked ass too.

Mega Man 5 had Gravity Man, whose level had really great grahpics (MM5 has the best graphics in the series, IMO), an interesting gravity gimmick, and some really good music. Hell, Gravity Man himself was a fun boss to challenge; he and his level were easily defeated, but I played it many-a-time simply because it looked great and was fun to play.

Mega Man 6 ... was easy, and the first Mega Man game I owned as kid, so it shall always have a place in my heart, even if it had some really weak level design and uninspired bosses (Plant Man, Centaur Man, Flame Man were all obvious rip offs).

And of course, Mega Man 4 - 6 continued the series' tradition of having strong gameplay, while ading an interesting dynamic to the mix with the mega buster. Great games, all of them.

That's Mega Man 2.

Wow, I'm retarded. I still maintain that MM1 was easy to beat, particularly if you knew the correct weapons to use on the bosses.

Same order here. I've been through the whole game without dying but i'm sure it's possible to better this achievement. Most of the time i'm hit a the "teleporting pieces guy". There's been a couple of time i wasn't hit though. The whole game is possible to be completed without a hit i'm pretty sure.

I just got the Megaman Anniversary Collection. The only Megaman I played prior to it was MM3. I had it on NES when I was little. I beat MM1, and I'm almost done with 2. I don't know how anyone could say that Megaman 1 wasn't that hard. The part where you have to fight all the bosses again (well 4 of them) without powerups in between made me fucking cry. And the very last boss was a pain in the ass too. Wysdom, you a god if you are able to beat the game without losing a life.

And the Flashman stage in MM2 is ridiculous.

I haven't got up to MM3 yet, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it the most because of the nostalgia.

Flashman? Hmm, I always thought that was one of the easier ones - it's just the ice that makes it such a pain. Quickman is hard as hell, my brother and best friend were literally shocked when I made it through Quickman's stage without using Flashman's power :P I was playing that game, once you know what you're doing, it's not really that hard. You just need to know what powerups work best at what situations (hint: it's usually metal). The hardest parts, IMO, are fighting all the bosses and then battling Dr W, or the boss of Wily stage 4 - the turrets that all fire at you, and you have to use Crash Man to beat them. I always use an energy tank at that part.

Well, I only beat Megaman with one life, i'm working on Megaman 2 now. I plan someday in beating all of them in the collection.
Anyway, regarding Megaman, it's not like it's each play through. I'd say 75% of the time i do it i lose a life and sometimes more than one.
I suppose that still makes me a God though. :D

I can't believe ppl are saying MM1 was easy. Did you play it with Gameshark or something? Very unforgiving game.

The "seperating" robot mini-boss at the end of the game is one of the most frustrating things I have ever encountered.

Megaman 1 becomes very easy once you get a lot of experience and know all the little tricks. like in Iceman's stage you can use the magnet beam to just skip the hard parts and you can avoid taking tons of damage from the yellow devil by just walking past it if your hit once. Besides, you have infinite continues so even if you're dying you can just keep retrying until you get the hang of it.
