how many hours a week do you spend playing games? please.

Wow I'm really surprised at how low a lot of these numbers are. I expected to see a lot of 30s when I clicked on this thread. I'd say 3-4 hours a night unless something I'm playing something really great. FFXI static party night is a good five hours. Maybe 15 on the weekend? I'm gonna go with 32, then.

Less than before actually, going back to school to study Game Art & Design has dramatically reduced my free time (when I freelanced it was the opposite). It was either cut down videogame time or eliminate forum interaction, no-brainer of a question. I sure as hell wasn't going to eliminate my studies, girlfriend or friend time.

To answer the question I'd probably say 10 - 20 hours a week on average. During midterms and crunch time for my external game project it drops as badly as less than 5 hours.

Still love reading GAF however! There are a bunch of cool people here whom I miss.

EDIT: CATHCART I LOVE YOUR AVATAR.

Normally 1-2 hrs a week...but sometimes it will depend on what game I'm playing. I was putting approx. 15 hours a week in on RE:4...and I'm doing about the same with MGS3.

not much nowadays. Maybe 6 hours a week? Spend more time with DVDs although last week I played through Onimusha3 for about 10 hours (on the weekend). It depends on whats in the console.

It use to be I played every other day for an hour. Lately its been allot more though. MLB2k5 was going strong till the game was ruined by the godamn franchise glitch, they had better patch this thing up fast. Fable and GT4 have me playing more lately as well,as of late about 90 minutes per day.

I play on the week days between 2-4 hours a day on fighting games 3s, or VF, T5 and so on..

I usally play WoW on the weekends for about 7 hrs a day.

So right aorund 30 hrs a week.

I dont play 1 player games though, i think they are a waste of time. :)

Well, it really depends on the game, really. I've been putting 3-4 hours almost every day since my MGS3-RE4-soon to follow Halo2, and it's been going on for 4+ weeks now.

However, when this current whole "big game" rush is over (I still have WE8 LE, Tekken5 and Gran Turisom4 to worry about), then I'm guessing it will be reduced perhaps 2-3 hours per week.

I play roughly 20 hours or so a week.

I'm single, so no family restrictions, the main thing is my job requires a lot of manual labor so some nights I don't play for being too tired, even though I might really want to. Somehow today I felt absolutely great after playing GT4 until 4:00 and waking up at 6:30 to go to work. Who knows.

I am also, honestly, absolutely appalled at how low most of these numbers go. The way some of you folks regularly talk about playing games I've never even heard of, I figured you were all 30-40 hour players at least.

Good luck with the project BTW.

I play sporadically throughout the week, and then lump all my gaming together on the weekend.

I'd say about eight hours a week. Two or three during the week, five or six on the weekends.

About five or six hours a week, unless I start to cut a healthy amount of sleep out of the equation (which can happen when you're playing CS or UT and lose track of the time).

Cathcarts avatar is hilarious :lol

agreed. but this is the type of place you would expect to find people who like yentering it up about games more than playing them.

for me its 10-20 depending on what games im currently playing, how busy i am etc. could be a lot more or less depending on the week/games/circumstances. 10-20 is an average week id say.

kind of a hard question. it pretty hard to get a solid figure. would a poll have been better to gather data, or would that be too constricing for the stats needed?

Right now, about 40.

During school, about 5 (I'm on a co-op assignment now. No Comp Eng HW frees up a LOT of time).

If the extra free time continued, it wouldn't be 40. I'm catching up. The past two weeks I've played through for the first and probably only time:

Jak 2
Jak 3
Sly Cooper
Shenmue 2
Halo

It looks like I'll beat Halo 2 tonight, then I might pick up Xenosaga 2, but I dunno with the reviews.

I alot myself about 10 hours a week for gaming everyhting over that comes directly out of my sleep time. I have been hooked on halo 2 in February probably played about 25 hours a week this month.

0-2 hours a week for the last year or so, though I used to play a lot more and might again in the future - I still want to get in on one of those MMORPG things someday.

Im probably around 4 hours or so atm... although on Saturday i probably done 8 hours or more... i used to be able to do 30hours or more.... but when i finished school and got a job it dropped a bit... i've only had little spikes when games like HL2, GTA SA, Halo 2 etc. came out and even then, im not happy with how little i got to play of them.
Soon im going to take a holiday and dedicate some time to games i have neglected lately. I got MGS3, DMC3, GTA SA, Halo 2 to finish, ontop of RE4, GT4 and many others which i've yet to get, or even start.

Same here. I may play for about an hour or two after school but there are just too many things to do during the weekdays so my time easily doubles during the weekends. Of course, the new game rule applies.

Buddy, would it help your data to be able to classify the data in terms of age/profession/work status, et cetera? Or is your 125 thing just raw data?
We're just supposed to perform a very simple survery, one to two questions, and present the data in about eighty different ways (mean, median, mode, different types of charts). Thanks for all your help guys :)

it varies hugely. if i'm really into a game i can play it 7 or 8 hours a day, but that doesn't happen often. usually i play 7-10 hours a week.

iawtp life is boring let's play games

i will say i would average about ummm 25 hours a week, since i normally just plop in front of the tube shortly after coming home from work

Anywhere from 4-10 hours I imagine. When Halo 2 first came out it was easily around the 10 mark per week, but now that it's fizzled for me a bit I'm probably closer to the 4 hours a week mark.
