How much faster will games load on Xbox 360 HDD?

sorry for another thread, but its a practical question.

I'm really only interested in PGR3, RR6 and Ghost recon at launch. They sound like simple console games that would have small save games - fine for a memory card.

The tart in me wants the full kit, but I could get the core console and memory card and one game for the price of the premium kit.

I'd get the HDD if it sped loading up significantly, but otherwise I might see how long a 64MB card lasts. I can always get the HDD later - yes its expensive but then at least you are spreading the cost a little.

You also have to factor in what kind of tv you'll be using. If it's true that the core system comes with only standard AV cables and you want to use component or something else that is an extra $40. :lol Nickel and Dime.

At that point with the memory card and non-standard AV cables you're already up to $380.

well, apart from the web screwups, the UK Xbox360 site says that both systems come with composite/component cables with SCART adapter. So that should be fine (I want HD)

You mean Jackson and Grant?

It just doesn't pan out.. you'd be paying $340 at launch.. unless you got the full kit for $400. For just $60 more, you also get a wireless controller, component cables, the voice headset and remote control, and you don't have to buy more $40 memory cards or a $100 hard drive later.

Hold on. HOW FAST IS THE DRIVE? Because think about it

-Xbox has 64MB of RAM
-Games that fill that from scratch (Rallisport 2) take for-fucking ever to load

-Xbox 360 has 512MB of RAM
-How long would it take to fill THAT from scratch?

They are using a faster dvd drive, fyi (at least I would imagine, otherwise they're fucking retarded).

I'd say the gap in speeds with/without HDD will be comprable to what we see on PS2 games with/without HDD now. It'll turn 30 second loads into 15 second loads, etc.. Most games will probably be designed for the non-HDD system's loading capabilities with hdd loading added on to help later, much like the PS2 did. It won't be Xbox level loading time help where the game could be designed to definately have hdd caching.

I already have two headsets (will a standard headset work with a wireless controller?)

Component looks to be standard in the core package

Memory card is plenty for normal saves.

I guess it comes down to how much downloadable content I think I'll have, and whether I want slightly longer load times.

Although the apparant inclusion of video clips on the HDD has me interested, especially if they are HD.
