Does anyone work in the industry and roughly knows what it costs to let a studio model and render stuff like this? I would assume other companies could develop complete games with that money.

Well, if the company really created models and textures that were going to be used in the final game, then the costs are moot. The only costs really are the scripted events that went into the movie, and the editing.

Full blown fan-fuckin-tastic CG is usually around 1,000,000 per minute.

That wasn't that.
